I have, at some point, taken each and every one of my real life friends, duct-taped them to a sofa, and forced their eyes open clockwork orange style to watch Strange Days.

Only one has ever been disappointed and I dropped that bitch like a hot potato.
I can understand someone being squicked out by the rape scene (even though it's hardly Irreversible level), but that's about it. It's basically solid gold everywhere else. My only quibble is that Juliette Lewis is a) not that hot and b) not that convincing a punk rocker.
I warn people about the rape scene. Some of my friends are rape survivors, so I'm pretty sensitive about that sort of thing.

Actually, I do have a couple of criticisms of the movie. The dialogue is overly melodramatic, but that's excused because it's basically a film noir in a sci-fi wrapper and film noir traditionally has corny dialogue. And somebody I know made the valid point that Lenny and Macy essentially have a codependent relationship.

Yes! Plus blood has an awful shelf-life.

Seriously? Like people are actually dying because of an inability to have blood given to them?

I mean I always here there is a blood shortage but I never hear of any ramifications.

That's a really good point about the codependency - although that, again, could be semi-excused by genre, since their relationship mirrors a lot of the pairings in cyberpunk novels, especially stuff like Neuromancer.

Donating blood is all a conspiracy to ensure Dracula retains control of the human population anyway.

Incredibly so.

Let me put it this way.

My earliest memories are of doctors collecting my blood repeatedly so that I would not die during surgery.

I wish I hadn't procrastinated on napping by playing Smash, because I had 2 hours of sleep last night, and 5 the night before, and I'm in for a long night of drinking... starting ASAP. Oh well. Got a little bit of napping in just now.

Yes quite often. Should any major emergency happen there will quite often be blood and blood component shortages. And I don't mean nationally major even just a large highway pileup. It can be worse in smaller towns that don't have a collection center and are somewhat isolated but even Vancouver could see massive blood shortages while they shuffle from storage and hospitals.

There are times of the year that are better than others, Chirstmas is one cause everyone wants to do something to make them selves feel good.

Here you can donate every 56 days if you are in good enough health and have a collection center nearby or a moblie clinic. I suggest to everyone to donate as much as they can. (except those AB freaks they can use any ones blood but can only donate to them selves, freaks!) Unfoutunatley I live in a community that does not have a collection center or get the moblie collection vans so I have to donate when I leave town and I try to.

there are a few rare and usfull types that are always in short supply such as the aforementioned O-, A- and AB-.

What you don't know about the Red Cross blood service is that it is heavily taxed on blood in terms of what it collects. Firstly you've got surgeons and doctors who really just wish everyone had O- so they could stop caring who got what, then of course everytime you ship blood anywhere some always disappears because it turns out getting rid of vampire truck drivers is nigh on impossible. Then the satanists always find a way to intercept it at the hospitals...

EDIT: Also by blood type is B+Awesome

Beautiful piece of science:

Spoiler:

On reaching the host's lungs, cells of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (orange) bind to the TLR-2 receptor on the surface of a macrophage (green). Caws et al.2 speculate that polymorphisms both in the host genes (those encoding TLR-2 and its adaptor protein TIRAP) and in bacterial virulence factors (PGL and the DosR complex) affect the severity of tuberculosis. Honestly, with Red Cross, they probably actually set it to weirdos under the table.
