EDIT: Also, it's not a remake like FF3/FF4 DS. It's an "enchanced port" like Dawn of Souls etc on GBA.

So A Chrono Trigger remake did beat Earthbound on the Virtual Console.

Too bad it will be a long time before we know much about it

That's a decent resume, especially FFV, FFVI, and WotL.
