I give blood as often as I can, but the last time they were in my town I couldn't as I had been in America in the last four weeks - West Nile virus risk, or something. While I was in New York and flat broke, I did consider selling my blood for a bit of cash - would this have been a good idea? My uincle had had the flu about a year ago, treated it like a flu, but he just kept getting worse. Eventually my aunt hauled him to the ER, because he was just looking too bad. He was low-priority, 'cuz it was just the flu, and people kept coming in from semi wrecks and stabbings and whatnot. And they just wait because that's want you do. My uncle's getting worse, eventually my aunt grabs a nurse, she takes one look at him, and they herd him into a room. It turns out it was West Nile. My uncle almost died because my aunt wanted to be polite.

You couldn't just go out back and down some livers or something? i asked this i was like cant i go down some sushi and, no no i can't 56 day wait after you fail your iron test What's the reason behind that? Is 12.5 already kinda low, so anything below that would be really low? Does it take that long to get more iron in your system? Is it just completely arbitrary and silly? i have no clue, to be honest with you okay i looked it up and apparently 14-17 is 'normal' for iron (in women) ..apparently if your iron level is at 12, it means you're anemic then again, i'm reading this from the internet so it could be a bunch of bulldoogie

Hemoglobin should be above 12 in women(13 in men), if its less that you are by definition anemic. Most people are 14-16 range. Above 17 you are considered polycythemic. Normal Iron levels should be between 45 and 160.

I'd actually consider doing it. It's actually a selfless thing. You don't get paid in the UK, I believe. But then, I don't like the idea of non-anonymity. I thought that was the whole point. What if in 18 years some dude comes and beats me up because he didn't get brown eyes? edit - plus then I can tell my parent's they're technically gonna get to have grandchildren...
