Speaking of Punisher, there's an issue where he uses a gun. a gun that shoots swords. Punisher WJ #12 i think. It was ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome.

Indeed. You can't really go wrong with Punisher War Journal. that run was pretty fantastic from beginning to end.

Wait, so Punisher War Journal ended? I quit reading it during the Jigsaw arc because the art was so godawful that it hurt my eyes to look at.

The earlier arcs were fantastic, and I loved the art in them, including the one with the sword gun.

I actually don't know. I think it changed or ended... I stopped during the same arc. I am not a fan of that style of art. Same reason I quit reading Wolverine Origins.

It ran to #26 and was recently replaced by Punisher.

TLB I know exactly what you need.

TMNT Bodycount. Casey Jones and Raph go across the country and murder ninjas, gangsters, punks, everyone. Simon Bislay on art. No plot to speak of, just 100+ pages of murder and mayhem.

The Return to New York arc in TMNT was basically one long fight scene as well.

Chaykin, iirc. He's the worst artist I've ever seen in comics, I don't know how he keeps getting work. He draws naked chicks in a way that makes my eyes want to vomit.

Wow, that coloring is painfully flat. It's like a bas-relief.

For the record, this is how turtles are supposed to look.

Spoiler:

That artist is way off.

To be fair, the turtle in your picture is, at most, a yellow belt. Clearly not a ninja.

Secondly, Raph's thigh in the previous picture looks like two pot roasts wrapped in duct tape.

At frequent points the artist messes up how many fingers Raph is supposed to have.

At the end of the book the writer is talking about it and says "I said fuck it. Just keep drawing explosions and people getting beat up and no one will care about the toes".

That reminds me of how people still can't get Beast's number of fingers right in his Cat like appearance. Ron Garney drew him with five, he's supposed to have 4, and others have done the same thing.

Does Marvel not send character layouts to every artist on a book or something?

Ok, can someone point me to some good online comic book shops? As indicated above, I am feverishly searching to fill the Daredevil hole in my life and all resources I've looked at so far (Amazon.ca/com and TFAW) are missing two trades (Golden Age and Decalogue).

www.mycomicshop.com

They are pretty good, I use them for the things my local shop doesn't have.

Also, Comics Unlimited might work.

Could anyone let me know exactly what went wrong with Ultimate X-men? I say this as someone who's only read Ultimate War (it was ok) and have heard that some people think Millar's run is good but thats about it. Looking at the writers for the series, Millar, Bendis, Vaughn, Kirkman, all great so I'm confused as to how people think it's failed.

The only Kirkman stuff I've read has been Invincible and Walking Dead, which are both ballin' as shit. So I was disappointed when I heard his Ultimate X-run was bullshit.

I liked Ultimate X-men when it first launched. But then they started doing stupid reality-altering shit like Xavier's kid and I just gave up on it.

Then a week ago, I found the 3rd volume HC for like 6 bucks, so I pick it up... and the art in it is so bad (Bachalo and some other schmuck for most of the book), I couldn't make myself read it.

... Xavier's kid alters reality in 616 too.

That's NOT the reason Ultimate X-Men started to suck.

right, but the Ultimate line started off as a way to capture the essence of these characters, and not have the retarded shit that the 616 line has.. resurrections, can-do-anything-the-writer-chooses-powers, anything by liefeld or mcfarlane, etc.

Granted, I didn't start reading Ultimate X until after I read Ultimates and large portion of USM, so my expectations were fairly high. And it started off good, but things like Xavier's kid are prime places to bring the retarded elements of the 616-line down to something that works.

Where did you get that idea?

The Ultimate line was started to gain new readers and tell stories unencumbered by years of continuity. That's it. Everything else was at the writers discretion, which is clear when you see that every single Ultimate line has people coming back from the dead, can-do-anything powers.
