My second playthrough of OG1 is going well. Alt's unit-screen is maxed, I turned Huck 2 into an armour-beast and don't regret it for an instant, and I turned Katina's red Gespy into Alt-Jr. And Excellen I've pretty much focused on making so that she just doesn't need focus, like, ever.

I finally have the Vaisaga. Things of note for preparing Lamia for it. Pump up her melee attack and give her chain attack. Everything on the mech is ranged melee and only she can use the mech.

They radically changed Ryusei's personality to the point where he became an annoying little bitch who constantly picks fights with people for reasons none other than constructive criticism. You can skip most of the story as it's fundamentally the same. Irm's cool in the Grungust. That's slick in and of itself. After something like Chapter 21 you get Kyosuke and crew and you're unstoppable from there. It's also a lot easier in the endgame since there's healing tiles. You also get to use SRX for the rest of the game after you get it instead of just one mission in Kyosuke route, so there's that. It makes the endgame a ton easier with the "TK BURST SLASH!!!" No Kai in Ryusei route though. That sucks.[/spoiler:b353b01500]

That was the best episode so far just for that sequence where they show up (although the Alt's movements are a little wonky, they need to work on that, but hey, First Stage of Initial D wasn't exactly pretty, and look what 4th Stage looks like well before where the end of OG1 will be at the rate they're going). [spoiler:db3d689dc0]Edit: The main reason I don't want to go Ryusei-route is because I always just toss Alt and Weiss at half the map, because I prioritise them in such a way that they can take half the map without using more than a negligible amount of SP. Leaving me two monsters with nearly full SP for every boss. And then with Alt where it stands this time through, I can afford to mess around with Katina's Gespy, actually Russel's isn't bad either, and this time around I know better than to even bother with the fucking R-Gun beyond keeping Viletta alive in it so she can get kills.[/spoiler:db3d689dc0]

Is Katina's Gespenst actually special aside from the paint job? I refused to waste any money giving it upgrades in OG1 and now and then it was a bit of a struggle to keep it alive. It did dish out hurt with a fully upgraded assault blade, though.

It did dish out hurt with a fully upgraded assault blade, though. It's really not special at all. I've just adopted the idea that every red mech should be unbeatable, so I upgraded the hell out of her machine's mobility and armour, gave her chobham armour or whatever it's called, boosted her evade and ranged skills, and gave her a maxed out M95. Since she's the only Kyosuke route character who starts with Valor, she has been key to several battle masteries. Plus with all the armour and mobility upgrades, the standard Gespenst II-M is a plenty badass mech.

Is it the same thing with Kai's Gespenst? It comes decently upgraded but I stuck him in a Grungust I got for failing to get H008, but against one of the bosses he talked about how his awesome Gespenst is so I was wondering about that, too. The only Gespensts I used in the final missions were R and MKII-R, really.
