I see you have a couple 'Mechs from before Bandai (was it Bandai?) put their foot down.

Good 'Mechs, but I'd like to see more color.

I figured I might throw some of my stuff into the mix, though the paintwork is sort of... not good, compared to some of the stuff in this thread.

I hate, hate, the goofiness of GW's Nurgle Demon Prince, so I made my own from bits and green stuff. It doesn't photograph well.

Harmony Gold was the one that brought the squash.

Grey Death Legion uses only Grey on Grey Camo. Trying to stay true to the sourcebooks. I'm working on the Kell Hounds next, so all red and black.

I'll take some 40K pics and post them later. I don't want the fanbois beating me down.

Ah sweet painting thread, how I've missed you so. For the first time in several weeks I've had a chance to pick a up a brush and do some painting.

Naturally I spent my time trying to bring out the definition on a High Elf's arse.

It was pretty bad the first time I got ogre bulls. They sat there, unrepentant, with their nipples pointing defiantly at me saying "you're going to have to paint us."

So I got commissioned to paint a BATTLE COMPANY of smurf troopers. I fear this is gonna be boring but it pays damn well.

Just before I stopped playing Warhammer entirely, I bought a box of Chaos Marines for the express purpose of hacking them up into some Death Guard. Here are the results, along with one last (better) shot of my demon prince. WH Fantasy zombies are probably my favorite models for customization. Need IG corpses? Throw in some zombie bits. Need Death Guard? Throw in some zombie bits. Mutations? Zombie arms. Morbid decorations? Zombies. They're pretty versatile.

As someone who has painted a battle company I can tell you that it will be mind numbingly boring.

I would not be able to do commission work. Getting paid to paint would just put way to much stress on me. Unless I worked for GW or something, then I'd be OK with it. However I'm not anywhere near good enough to do that.

I've done commission work a couple times and as long as the client is willing to pay half decent it's a great way to pic up some extra cash. It's a great way to practice your painting too, working on new and different things.

I would love to do more

Not that I could do commission work, but how much is the standard for that sort of thing? Really curious.

There really isn't one. More than 3ish dollars for basic infantry is about as consistent as it gets.

blurry pictures ahoy

I am done with the dreadnoughts. After the FW one, I didn't put nearly the same amount of effort in to them - just wanted to get them to a decent state.

I wasn't even going to paint the one on the right - I bought him cheap for just his arm (which I gave to my venerable), and one of the wolf tails was melted or something. I decided to give it a shot anyways.

All together now!

I've given them names, written on the sides of their arms (not pictured). Fandral, Voltstag, and Hogun. Points to whoever gets the reference!

I've usually started at retail cost for the model/squad then added a percentage according to the standard of painting.

What if they provide the models ahead of time?

I mean, the painting fee starts at the cost of the models. So if it's a $35 box, it would cost $35 to paint, $70 to buy and paint.

Of course this is just a very rough guideline, but it's a good starting point.
