Actually yes. Don't get me wrong, reading stories is fun, and reading stories and then talking/writing about them is also fun, much like WoW, and there's nothing wrong with either one as a hobby.

so i guess playing sports means doing nothing with your life, being a professional artist is doing nothing with your life, and so on?
careers exist because there is a demand for what they produce, enough to sustain their existence. if someone who designs video games is doing "something" with their life, I think someone who studies literature is doing "something" as well.
