A local bar that shall remain nameless procured an unopened bottle of this...

That's barreled pre-Prohibition and bottled right after Repeal.

I couldn't pass that up.

Anyone who's a fan of rye, or simply "hotter" bourbons should give this a try:

I don't like it quite as much as Rittenhouse, but it is less expensive and very good in it's own right.

I could get fussy and nerdy about subtle flavors and whatnot, but why bother:

You know I got bored and picked up Bud American Ale tonight because I didn't want to drive to the decent beer store.

and I have to say it's surprisingly palatable.

It's serviceable, albeit forgettable. As a cheap alternative to my normal beers, it does alright.

Yes, I had this at a 4th of July event recently. I would say it's a respectable attempt for Budweiser to make an amber-colored ale, but it's not wonderful. Kind of watery. Maybe it's just the 3.2 Utah version...

So after a trip with friends I've discovered some more drinkables that just taste damn good.

I never thought myself to be much of a beer fan but out of the ones I tried, them being Stella, Boreal, Labatt, and Guinness I believe I find myself not disliking it as I thought I would. Except Guinness did not like it at all. Nothing fancy with those drinks but they seem nice.

As for liquor whoever recommended the Southern Comfort and Coke it was delicious so thanks! Aside from that I've had some Vodka and Rum and they where all pretty good to.

So heres my question to you guys, aside from Soft drinks what else (I know this is a stupid question but I'm curious) can I do with well liquor I guess. I also need some more recommendations since Payday is coming up and as I've exhausted my Southern Comfort I think its time for something new to enjoy every once and a while. I'm up for almost anything.

Woodford Reserve is an amazing bourbon. Had it a few nights ago. Really flares up in the palate and nostrils.

Chili vodka is looking good. And by good I mean a slightly disturbing shade of brown.

The largest amount my wife will be trying will be on a toothpick.

Fruit Juices; Orange and Cranberry are the popular ones.
Simple Syrup; one part sugar, one part water
Sour Mix; one part simple sugar, one part lemon/lime juice

Tequila and orange juice. Pour grenadine down the side of the glass to make a tequila sunrise if you're feeling fancy.

Can anyone suggest a good drink that would be a susceptible WHOOO HOORAAY! sort of drink?

I usually order martini's and whiskey sours so I need to avoid those.

Preferably something relatively easy to make. Not too sweet.

I LOVE Old Granddad 100.

OGD100 + Jolt cola was my shit when I was young, now I just drink it straight or MAYBE one ice cube.

(edit)

114 is still better than 100, but 100 is an awesome wind-down after a long day at the office.

I am just finishing off a bomber of Stone 13th Anniversary Ale. It's pretty big, man. It's classified as a "strong ale" and feels like a malty doppelbock on steroids. Very tasty.

I had an awful joke burning in the back of my head after hearing he died.

Guess the cost of Whiskey is about to go down, as the post-death glut piles up on store shelves.

They sell those prepacked liquor things all the time at liquor stores. Sometimes they come with glasses, I got some crown with 2 glasses, I've seen others come with flasks, and grey goose with martini glasses and once something with a martini shaker.

They put out a lot of them closer to christmas time, so focus your search then.

While I normally stick to microbrews and such I've been rather light on money as of late, so I picked up a 30 pack of Miller High Life. For only $17 it's certainly more palatable than the other similarly priced beers. This will, however, increase my anticipation for the Winter Ale season, particularly for Deschutes' Jubelale.

TN alcohol laws SUCK. Beer and liquor can't be sold in the same store. It is terrible.

2 questions about infusing vodka:

Would fresh jabaneros work? My brother has a small garden and planted some and I want to surprise him with something alcoholic made with them. And while I don't want to use a bunch, three or four tossed in with regular dried chilies seem like it would work.

If I put all the ingredients in a jar tomorrow would it be ready by Saturday?

Edit: Also, can I just use regular pepper instead of peppercorns?
I don't know jack about infusing but I know something about pepper. Pre-ground pepper won't work very well because the oil is dried and gone. A solid peppercorn still has the flavorful oil trapped inside. It's very easy to tell the difference between fresh ground pepper and preground stuff. You can try it out just by licking some off a spoon or something. You'll find the same with Garlic and many other spices.

Sounds like Connecticut. We don't have that problem in New York.

north carolina has state run liquor stores

never open after 9 PM, on holidays, and a poor selection of specialty liquors. Also the people who work there aren't that knowledgeable like they would be at a wine or beer store
