Any of you still play this? Because I've had it for a while and for some reason have only been playing computer skirmishes, so I'm trying to find out if any of y'all still play this excellent, albeit somewhat phlegmatic game and if we can get some online matches going. I've only played a couple of multiplayer matches, so I'm not that good against human opponents so you shouldn't feel intimidated about playing against me.

For those not in the know, SoaSE is a real time strategy game set in space with planets you try to control, resources, massive fleet battles. Great fun, but slower paced than most other RTS games. If you're interested in playing but don't own it you can find it for $20 or less, so it's also a pretty good deal!

Yes, this looks kind of like Eve but it plays nothing like it. This is an RTS. You control entire fleets, build defensive structures around your planets, research advanced technology, all in a race to pound your opponent to dust or overwhelm him with your superior culture. Think Civ 4 in space.

So speak up! Let's get some matches going!

    I kinda still play, though I suck horribly.

    I don't have it patched though, and patching through Impulse takes foreeever.

    I always make gigantic games with seven CPU opponents and then, about eight hours in, realize that the game is never going to end. EVER.

    If you registered it, you can sign into impulse and redownload it whether or not you have the original Media.

    And I'm going to be up for awhile. I've owned the game for a long time, but never actually played the multiplayer because my friends are colossal dickbags who all opted out of buying it after telling me they'd have it day one. So if you want to play me, someone who has never ever played before, I'd be up for it.

    I have this. Also the expansion. I haven't been able to play around with the expansion much, and I can't remember my MP account name. I just have to open the game to figure it out, but, ya know, effort.

    If you guys want to play this, I am down.

    I've had it for a year and a half, and all I've done with it are the training missions. All I ask for is some diplomacy so I don't get totally fucked.

    This is a game that i have.

    I've played a few computer skirmishes and i think i am ok, but i'm not sure how good people are online these days. I dont have the expansion or anything but i'd be up for it.

    Cool, looks like at least a couple of you have the game and would be down. It's pretty late, but I'd be up for some matches tomorrow some time.

    I have it.

    I haven't played it since I first got it, it's good just really loooong and hard to organize a game.

    I may or may not reinstall it.

    I don't see how it takes a long time to organize a game
    unless you're trying to organize one between 4 people or more and then yeah, that could get time consuming trying to get everyone together for the game at the same time

    but small 2-3 player matches should be quick and easy to set up

    Druhim, I remember it being tough to get a game going with one of my friends back when I got the game. Is it easier to get groups together now?

    I have this game! I barely touched it though so like, be gentle. Or rough I guess, whatever twists your nipples, I'm down though!

    As a side note, I gotta say I am finding the whole new thing of every game developer/publisher forcing you to install some sort of digital store onto your computer mildly tiresome. I mean, Steam is great, but now I got Steam, GFWLWFLWFWL the piece of shit that it is, this Impulse thing which I bet sucks and some other dealio I can't recall the name of.

    Yeah, I agree Hob. Especially since the default is usually for them to auto run on startup so you have to disable them.

    Impulse is pretty slow for dl updates and yeah, GFWL is a complete pile of shit.

    I have the expansion, and space stations almost make it worth it. They allow you to exert a degree of control over systems that, normally, you wouldn't be able to do anything with.

    Freind of mine lent this to me, so if I can get it patched I'll be down for some game-age sometime. Naturally I expect to suck hind tit though, since I haven't done more than the tutorial at this point.

    Which is good because games can drag out, but it's still a good game. Hell, Civ 4 can drag out but it's also very good.

    yeah I know

    I've run a couple of LAN games against my brother, usually 1v1 or 2v2

    even those can take hours and hours and we've never actually finished a match because the CPU has a bad habit of running away when you attack

    google for the patch and see if it's hosted somewhere else?

    keep in mind though that you still won't be able to play online without registering at ironclad online.
