Adam Conover on the writers strike specifically, but also on collective action generally, and how it's maybe one of the last means of claiming agency in an increasingly hostile world
I also wanna emphasize like, having gone several times to the lines here in the last few weeks and seen the effect of showing that solidarity
It actually feels really good to go and help out! The coffee and Timbits and other snacks we brought genuinely lifted spirits and you could see a real positive shift in folks' energy, especially when we busted some music out too. Hoping to do snack dropoffs more regularly when there's pickets in town in the future.

why is it that Florida democrats suck so much
it seems like there's a potential (don't know if it's a particularly strong or viable one but it's there) for flipping the state, but it appears the Democrats actually in charge in the state's party are woefully inadequate, actual republicans masquerading as donkeys, or consider Florida to be a lost cause
why? I mean, even if they are ideologically aligned with the state's republicans in practice it would still make sense on an individual level, never mind a party one, to want to be the person ostensibly holding the reigns of power. Just the ancillary grifting benefits of being in the driver's seat have to be worth whatever it is they are currently getting from fundraising as the underdog. Why the fuck are they this terrible when demographics and political segmentation should have had them be active competitors a long time ago?
AI art so far as I can tell so far is basically "what if this hot babe had seven fingers in one hand" repeated over and over
FANTOMAS
It's weird that people are saying the writers strike wont wreck netflix, their entire model and public value is based on the idea that they will become a production and thereby merchandising juggernaut on the level of Disney. The only thing keeping them afloat right now is tech money magical thinking.
