Info about Homeowners Insurance?

Where's a good place to find information about homeowners insurance? I'd like to get a ballpark figure, but most places don't let you do anything other than get a quote, and we're just shopping around.

Or.

What's a reasonable amount to expect to pay? How do they compute it?

Are you in a house or a condo?

I am in a condo here in NJ and I pay only $100 a year through Met Life.

    No idea about houses though.

Why an aversion to getting a quote?

I don't actually have property in mind to get a quote on.

We're trying to figure out a reasonable price range to search for houses, and I want to include everything we'll be paying monthly, including taxes and insurance.

I pay about $650/year in homeowners insurance, or just over $50/month. I can't remember where I found it, but while looking at homeowners insurance for myself, I found a webpage that listed average yearly premiums by state. I'm sure you can find something similar with a little googling.
