I got a Sportser 4 in mid-August, installed it with no problems, and it worked flawlessly for about 2-3 months. Just this past month, I've started to lose satelite coverage in places where I used to get full coverage, eventually to the point where it will cut off and/or not recognize that there's a signal where there once used to be. I've tested it in two locations, in two separate states, and I'm still getting the same problem. I go to school in central VA, and I slowly lost signal. I drive home to NC for Christmas, and I have full coverage when I get home, but a week later it's degraded into the same situation I had in VA. It will fade in/out and lose signal completely. I haven't moved or touched my antenna since I installed it, nor have I messed with anything else. Is this my problem (as in something wrong with my receiver/antenna) or is it a Sirius coverage issue? I have yet to call in to complain/for tech support, and I wont be able to until the new year, as I'll be out of town.
Does this sound like my issue or theirs, and if it is theirs, what am I entitled to monetarily for their lack of service? I refuse to drop $13 a month for coveraged that is less than advertised.
What kind of antenna do you have? A wired or wireless one?
I had the EXACT same problem with my sporster, and it turned out that the problem was the docking bay part. It really pissed me off, because Sirius didn't want to deal with it and told me I should just take it to Best Buy and get it exchanged. I just ended up ditching the service. It's a shame too cause for a while I was telling everyone to get Sirius. It's such a cool service.
Then I got a job that's only about ten minutes away, so I guess I would have cancelled sooner or later.
I'm starting to suspect that it's a Sirius issue and not a device issue. This afternoon I had full service, but as the day went on I started losing it. I think they might be having issues with satalite coverage during the night, because that's the only time that I've been having serious issues.
I was thinking of getting a home dock for the dorm room when I get back to school, so I'll find out here in the next few weeks whether or not it's a docking issue.
