Help me pick my first dance wedding song.

Okay, I'm having the toughest time doing this on my own so I thought I'd ask the friendly folks at PA.

I'm getting married soon, and we are trying to pick a song for our first dance. The thing is, most of the "recommended" songs are too old/stuffy, or too 80's-ish for my fiance and I. We listen to a lot of indie stuff, I listen to some metal, punk etc. I also like Neko Case, Feist, Pizzicato 5, other stuff of that nature, Nujabes, other Japanese hip hop, etc.

My fiance listens to more top 40 stuff, regular pop. But she also likes Jpop and we both enjoy 90's era music.
So yeah, finding a song to satisfy our eclectic tastes, that is still classy enough to dance to is proving difficult.

I'd love any suggestions you might have, preferably with a youtube link to the song if possible.

Help me, PA guys. Don't let me have to dance to Frank Sinatra at my wedding! My thanks to everyone.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

We have a DJ, but I kind of want to steer away from the "usual" selections. I highly doubt that our DJ will recognize shit like P5, or Calexico, or basically anything outside the Top 40/classic rock/traditional selections.

Slow or fast isn't really a major thing, I'd like something that can theoretically be danced to.

I say theoretically because we really can't dance. We hope to shuffle back and forth with dignity.

Romantic would be a bonus, but if it was classy/danceable/original, but not romantic, we'd be okay with it.

My wife and I had our first dance to "Fly me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra. Her choice.

We ended the evening with "Harvest" by Opeth. My choice.

    I won.

Ok, but you're going to need to make sure he has the song anyway, so talk to him! Seriously, you guys really do need to have him involved. ...Damn, it was almost a year ago, and now I can't remember what our first dance was to. Cripes, I'm going to get murdered, aren't I?

I plan on dancing to Feel Like Making Love, especially since the closest thing we to a song that's 'our song' is Most Beautiful Girl in the Room. I definitely understand you're want of a song that isn't At Last or Just the Way You Are. Another way to go about this is set your iTunes on random play and see if anything sounds right.

You couldn't really 'dance' to it, but you could try moshing to the Vandal's "If the Government Could Read My Mind".

For a bit more big-band style, danceable music with still unique lyrics, try Bjork's "It's Oh So Quiet".

Actually, it's a fairly decent slow-dancing song, and I've never heard of anyone thinking of choosing Metallica for their first dance, regardless of the content.

I haven't read the rest of the thread, but this might be thought-worthy.

Who are your favorite artists from the 90s?

If none particularly come to mind as having an "appropriate" first dance song, maybe browse the 90s charts (or a list like this or this that google just spat out at me) and see if anything jumps out and grabs you. Some of the sappier songs were pretty heavily played at weddings last decade, but something might grab you.
