Huh. Guest that shows me not paying attention to Rock Band. Buying that as soon as I get home. Though I probably will have to play it alone, as the GF hates them.
After playing the Cavern Club and half of Ed Sullivan, I'm left wondering why people are complaining about the difficulty. I can normally play expert guitar and I'm a huge Beatles fan so I'm familiar with their songs, but I keep getting 4 stars and on 2 songs I got 3 stars. This could be because I'm used to playing with the huge fret'd and clicky strums of the Explorer and now have the Hoffner, but I'm not finding it overly easy. Also playing bass on the earlier songs at least is pretty tricky.
The thing is, many people...idiots...conflate 'simple' with 'easy'.
Is there any way that we Wii-owning TB:RB players can friend each other using this thread? Are the Wii codes in the OP updated? Do you thread-reading Wii owners check the OP and add those names? I only ask because I'd love to play with a full band online, and with PAers.
I want to pick up Beatles Rock Band for PS3, but I don't own any RB or GH games yet. What do you guys recommend as far as instruments go? I'm hearing not-so-great things about RB instruments, so I'm tempted to pick up GHWT.
If you believe GH:WT instruments will work better for you, then you shouldn't have any issues. HMX's own compatibility chart says as much. You may find the drums difficult to work with, but that's more an issue with layout design and not compatibility.
RB2 gear is considered of a better quality than RB1 stuff, and reports suggest that B:RB gear is even better.
Instrument wise consensus is:
GH guitars = best (generally)
RB2 drums = best
The RB2 strats and all the beatles odds and ends are mostly a matter of taste.
Everyone has been recommending that you get the RB2 special edition on the cheap and then Beatles by itself. Do NOT get tricked into buying the RB1 instruments, because they have an abysmally short life span.
You guys must play really hard (or - more likely - I got really lucky). I've had RB1 dums since release and they work great. The RB1 strat I had to fix the whammy bar, but all the buttons and the strum work great on it, too.

And though the quality/stability of GH guitars is considered better, they do not have the solo fret buttons. It's a minor point and not everybody is concerned about it, but that is how it is. The touchstrip on the post-GH:WT guitars does not work in Rock Band games.
I have yet to meet a single person that uses the solo strip on either game's guitars. Or I guess, that uses them on a consistent basis. In GH when I'm confronted by tons of notes I know I won't be able to tap, I'll use it in concert with the fret buttons to just not fail, but that's about it.
I went through somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 strats, 3 drum pedals and 2 drumheads on the original RB stuff. The RB1 pads also have a ton of sensitivity issues.

I mention it only as a matter of course. Some people do use it, some people don't.
Also, I'm pretty sure touchstrip notes can be 'tapped' with regular frets as if you were using solo frets during a solo. At least GH:M did it in the demo and I think it's used in other games in the series.
Current kill count for me is 2 Xplorers and one RB strat. The RB strat technically works but the strum bar misses a lot and is super mushy now.
I still use my RB vanilla stuff although I RMA'd both the guitar and drums once each. My strat is holding up well, but I still don't think I've ever played with a drum set that works 100% as far as registering hits goes.
The wireless GH3 controller I have stopped registering the orange fret.

I would say GH:WT Drums = Best. But it required me opening up the drum set and taping down the connections. Unless you have that 200$ kit for RB the drums are lacking when compared to GH drums. Especially now with the double kick.
RB2 drums have support for double kick, it comes with the individual new bass pedals.
I'm sure they're fine response wise, but have fun playing everlong or RTTH on GH drums.
Technically they both always have if you had a splitter but the only game to use it is GH atm. Granted those songs are usually Metallica, Slayer, Children of Bodom etc but its still fun to try. My buddy has those 200$ set of drums and they are fun as hell to play though. The other day I was looking at my RB1 drums and I dont think I could ever hook those up again knowing I can go down the street and play on the monster set of video game drums.
Edit: Im still waiting patiently for Deftones track pack on either system. Dino Jr is fun I might have to talk my bud into grabbing em.

Me and zimfan are on the OP list. I have the game already, and last I heard zimfan was going to get it on release day, but I haven't heard from him. And one of those peoples in the OP posted something other than their FC, so there out of luck for now.
But yeah, on my part I'd love to play. I can do drums, but way prefer guitar or bass. No singing. And it'd probably have to be sometime in the afternoon / night because I work most days. Send a PM to Arikados and he'll post your FC in the OP as well.

Yep happened again. 100% on expert bass on "I Feel Fine" (which is a really easy one) used all my Beatlepower (or whatever its called) and didn't GS it. 36,186 wasn't enough
It's probably the overdrive path you're using. I can't remember it off the top of my head, but the rule of thumb is to use it on parts were there are more notes. If it means holding off for a while, it's for the better.
I don't recall on bass, but the song only has five power phrases on guitar... There isn't much wiggle room to score lots of points. Especially for a song that is pretty much just a constant rhythm of single notes.
Yeah there wasn't a huge amount of variation, and usually 100% on expert is plenty unless you really waste it. I doubt its impossible but its probably really touchy

So my first RB guitar (rb1 launch 360) died the 2nd day of use I rma'd it and got rawkxanne a rb 1 v2, girl went strong but I finally retired her. Her whammy was broken like virtually every toy guitar I've ever had. The problem was she became very picky about how I pressed the blue fret, this I'm sure was after 1000 hours of expert use plus some drunken parties. Now I'm using a launch wireless strat. things been going good since I got it launch day but I only used it when we had rbparties so not a ton of time spent. I miss the mushy strum bar on the rb2 guitars, I love that thing. I HATE the gh ones, the raised buttons are shitty for slides and the neck is so fat, makes my arm cramp up bad.
RB1 drums, I have broken Waaaay too many of these. probably 10 pedals and six or so kits? I've cracked the pad surface on a few and whacked the red pad clean of the kit on a pretty stellar (for me) run on kool thing. never really used the rb2 drums, upgraded to an ion as soon as I could. I really like the gh drums aside from the pedal that thing is crap. the throw seems weird and it should hook to something, little guy moves around alot. Not a huge fan of using them for rockband though. For most songs its fine but on songs with the hihat on red or songs with tom rolls it can be awkward.
And as soon as I made that post, the blue fret starts freaking out my RB2 strat, on both the main frets and the solo ones.. why the hell is alway the blue fret on both GH and RB guitars?

Well, technically, a splitter on the Rock Band drums didn't really work. You could only have one pedal down at a time, which doesn't work well at all. They released an official splitter that cuts off the signal after registering, which allows you to double-bass as intended. Unfortunately this also makes the drummer unable to hold the pedal down for faster setlist scrolling.
In my opinion, your best bet for drums is a RB2 set with cymbals. I play RB and GH (including up to GH5 on Expert+ and RB: Beatles) and they work great for either. I wouldn't recommend the GH drums with Rock Band at all if you are playing expert, and there are a few songs that are near impossible in GH on a plain RB2 kit. Add cymbals and you get the best of both worlds.
One side note: It is odd that they switched how they chart RB drums in Guitar Hero from GH:WT to GH5. It used to be green was always floor tom and blue was both ride/crash cymbal and mid tom. Now, blue is always mid tom and green has dual purpose floor tom and ride/crash cymbal.
Did anyone else get the pre-order offer for 3 free Beatles songs from Gamestop? I just got the e-mail for redeeming them and this is the list of songs you can choose from.

I'm wondering if the masters for their first few albums aren't usable. Tis a shame.
