Suggestion: Take more proactive measures to fight the PAX-plague.
See More: Recruiters, EAPartners, etc.
I enjoyed my time at PAX, except for the illness that brought me to the brink of death and still lingers. Worth the 1500 mile flight.

Four days? If the extra day was Thursday that would RAWK!! If the extra day was Monday (Labor Day) tat would be... less good... but I usually take a full week off from work for PAX anyway - it's not like Seattle isn't a nice place to visit - so that could still work.
400 miles? Really?!? Do you honestly think that PAX is -that- regional? Obviously you do... I cant wait to see how wrong you are.
I'm sure Mr. Khoo has looked into it, but Dallas has one of the biggest convention centers in North America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Convention_Center I understand the East Coast placement though, bigger population, cuts down on the trans-contiental travel for the New Englanders, etc.
Maybe the second PAX could be a travelling one, rather than fixed just in Boston. Obviously I'm glossing over the difficulties of moving PAX each year rather than using the same location.
Just come to Dallas and we can be happy together forever, there, I said it.

Having setup/teardown on Labor Day would suck, as it's double-time with the staff. I'm guessing PAX would just roll back a day and start on Thursday.
I might literally work myself to death if PAX were an extra day. And if I somehow survived, then my wife would finish the job. And then go after Khoo. I understand the reasoning, but I don't think, as someone who gets about 8 hours of sleep Thu-Mon and becomes fueled solely by alcohol on Sunday, that it's the best idea ever postulated.
Man, I would hate it if PAX was 4 days. My energy is all gone by the third day, I would hate to miss stuff because I wanted a day to recuperate before work.
The thing is, if it were 4 days, you'd be less pressured to do stuff so jam-packed. More relaxed schedule = more sleep!
You know that's not true Prox. There'll be more then enough stuff to fill those 4 days. Maybe it there are still only 2 days of concerts. That would eliminate a lot of incentive to stay until 3am.

I wonder what the price of a 4-day pass would be (not that I wouldn't spend it haha). I think a fourth day would be nice. Personally, I ran out of time before doing everything I wanted to this year. If I needed a break, I'd go relax for part of a day.

Probably about $70, but that's just speculation. If Monday or Thursday were added, they would probably be similar hours to Sunday (10am-6pm)

-- Guuh, I don't think I could survive 4 days, I'm sorry. I know it makes me sound like an oldster, but PAX already takes a large bite out of my year's vacation time, and I was pretty wiped out by the end of this year's.

As much as I, personally, would love for a PAX South to be hosted in Dallas (since I live here), I think Austin would be a more fitting choice. There are at least a couple of big game companies with offices there -- I know Blizzard does, and I think Bioware does too -- and it's probably a better city for tourists to visit. Dallas is a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit here.
Of course, Dallas or Houston would be a lot easier to get to (since they're hubs for American Airlines/Southwest Airlines and Continental, respectively). So that could factor in as well.
Either way, I think a PAX South would be better than a PAX Midwest in Chicago or somewhere similar, if only because of regional proximity. There's already PAX for the Northwest (Prime) and Northeast (East). A PAX South would be nice for those of us that are farthest from both of the current locations.

I had to check with a couple of web sites to figure out how far it really was for me to travel but apparently Im 2066 Miles from Seattle one way. making my round trip 4132 Miles. no wonder I thought the flights took forever . Still totally worth it tho definitely going again in 2010
ugh, but then you gotta change all your money, and deal with those damn loonies n shit. :v:
Lol Liger beat me to it but yeah I change my Canadian for your plain green American dollars each year. sometimes at a horrible exchange rate. to go to the Goodness that is PAX. You guys at least will get a better exchange rate and the chance to see money with color in it.
an no i'm not trying to start a flame war I find US money nice but frustrating. I have to sort my cash in denomination order or i can never find the amount I'm looking for with Canadian cash the color gives it away.

this just proves I'm REALLY LAZY
Hint: We put the numbers in the corner. Like playing cards.
Having it in the corner is not very helpful. When I thumb through the bill part of my wallet, my fingers are in the middle, not the edges. Face it, color+numbers is superior to everything being green.
Also. One dollar bills = worst idea ever.
But, no, I don't think a PAX in Canada is a particularly good idea. The vast majority of people come from the US. And with the way the Canadian population is spread out, I don't think you would get much of a boost in attendance from that.

That takes too much time. I feel really awkward playing around with money as I try to find the right bills. So much easier to just go by colour. You guys should try it!

It will never happen. In fact, I hear they plan on making the numbers even smaller.
Amen. Dollar coins are annoying. Hell, all coins are annoying except those actually made from precious metals.
Also I wouldn't take efficiency advice from people who put extraneous letters in their words. So how is it that "colour" isn't pronounced like "velour"?
Liger is awesome for that Commonwealth comment. That is all.

Awesome as a four-day would be, I don't think it would be a good idea. Having the whole day of Monday to get back into town for classes/jobs and what not it is really convenient. This way, we don't miss out on Sunday night shenanigans.

It's like having a question on a survey be:
Would you like an extra serving of ice cream? Y/N
and for the people asking for pax to be in their home town: like gabe said, pretty soon, pax will be in every mall in america!

Kind of like what the Canadians do every year for PAX? :P
If we're sticking to two PAXes per continent though, I say we expand to either EuroPAX or PAXOz.

IMHO BC is the least Canadian of the provinces. It's more like North Washington State.
