Actually, as an Australian I don't know what Reeses Pieces taste like. I assume penut butter and chocolate, which doesn't sound very nice anyway.
Blasphemy! Well, from what I remember, Reese's Pieces don't have a big chocolate flavor; mostly peanut butter with candy coating. Is there even any chocolate in them? But damn, chocolate peanut butter cups are the greatest thing ever made. Chocolate peanut butter ice cream is awesome, too.

Michael Atkinson is a total tool, but so is the system that allows one man to hold the entire system to ransom despite everyone else disagreeing with him.
Reading the reason for the rating, the main issue is the melee weapons, which you didn't have in the original Left 4 Dead, so it wasn't a problem then.
But there doesn't really need to be a reason, the classification board over here is just wildly inconsistent in how or whether at all it decides to classify games.
If it isn't rated in Australia, Steam won't publish it in australia. We have a separate product listing to you damned dirty Americans.
Also, importing a copy 'apparently' won't work either as Steam validates that the user is in Aus. Import for PS3 and Xbox 360 may work though.
Iriah is actually Australian also.
And kind of stumped, now.
If it doesn't get sorted out, I'll gift you a copy over Steam. Worked with Beyond Good and Evil when that was not available for purchase in the UK. Got one of my American buddies to wing it over.
Of course, I make no guarantees that will work again.
I would not be opposed to helping some AU PAers get their copy of L4D2. I just don't know if it would let you play it on your respective consoles/computer.

Thanks very much for the offer Scarab. Though it might be a moot point, because if almost no one else in Australia has it it's going to be a rather lonely game.

I really doubt that the game is going to be outright banned, just changed, the likelihood being that things will be rolled back the kind of thing you see in L4D 1.

I hope they change their mind on this, because here in NZ we rather rely on the Aussies for servers and such. If it doesn't get released in Aussie I won't have anyone to play with either
I once tried playing a game with Lacabra and some other dudes from Aus. My ping was something like 400. I imagine it'd be a pretty bad situation for anyone there.

This.
The pieces are like M&Ms with a slight peanut taste.
Now while I do feel sorry for our Aussie pals having to suffer this indignity, that report is the first time I have read about "abdominal wounds which can reveal innards or even cause intenstines to spill from the wounds". As such it has brought me (or rather my inner gore hound) nothing but joy.
On the subject of things peanuty and chocolatey, all hail the person who remodelled the Reese's Nutrageous bar into it's current form. It has overtaken the mighty cups in my estimation.

True. I don't doubt you'll get some incarnation of it. This is Valve.
Valve.
At worst, you'll get a zero day mod to put everything back in.
They could just ship the Germany version of the game to Australia, couldn't they?*
My impression is that the Deutschland version of L4D2 will be censored, as was L4D1. So it's not much extra work to get another censored version out at this point, I'm guessing.
edit: * I mean, after overcoming the inevitable re-rating submission and all that. There'll already be a version of L4D2 in the works that'll past muster in Germany, never mind Australia, after all.

That's why I've taken to hunting down places that import them. They tend to close quickly though, which is annoying.
American candy is swill compared to European candy...

Did the last game have heavy changes?
