You're probably just allergic to Cleartype. Some people are weird like that.
Or his monitor is; some of them are made backwards (reversed sub-pixel order) and you need to adjust for that. I know there was a ClearType tuner for XP but I don't know if it's built in now or what in 7...
Is there a tweak program for 7 yet? I have two minor issues. One the folders seem to do whatever the fuck they want including going to detail view for music folders when I set them and leave them in list form, the same happens with video folders, it just sees videos, even if its one video in a folder of documents and does what the fuck it wants.
Two, very, very minor, but WMP won't remember my time display settings. I prefer having it 0:00/20:00 but it always defaults to 16:59 (current time played). Its totally, totally minor but for some reason it just ignores the way I leave it.

About your first problem, every version of Windows does that and it's probably the thing that bothers me the most about Windows. I'd also very much like to know if there's a way to fix that.

Well on Vista I dunno what I chose, there used to be an optiont o remember each folders settings and I applied List to all folders but I can't see such an option at the moment and Im getting fairly pissed off with it, the details view is ugly as sin and I hate it and I don't need thumbnails of videos.

That option in Vista never did anything. It didn't do anything in XP either. I've heard so many people complain about it, I can't believe it never got fixed.

Well whatever happened I had to fuck about in Vista less than I am doing in 7 regarding this.
Ive also just noticed something else irritating. Im trying to select a portion of rared files to backup to DVD and when I select them it doesn't show me the combined file size, it for some reason requires me to click on "Show more details" to find out how big the combined size is so I have to keep repeating until I find its the right size instead of just highlighting and being shown what the size is automatically.
Im not clear why it needs me to click to find out the collective size.

To reset all folder's view to the current one go into Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> "Apply to all folders".
The Tools menu might be hidden until you press Alt. You can turn it on permanently in Organize -> layout.
I still havent found out how to get explorer to show size of selected file fast. Microsoft must not think it important.

Have you downloaded all the Win7 updates? Did you download the latest drivers for your video card?
So, has anyone else ran into the annoying "windows 7 has detected slow framerate" or whatever it says when you're playing a game? When I start up CoH it pops up every damned time, and every time I tell it to go away and never ask me to switch to aero basic again.

OK, I have this problem where I have a giant, huge pointer unless I turn on pointer tails. I'm pretty sure that someone posted about this problem in this thread but I'm failing at searching for it.
Is there a cure?

That link stated a cure involving the AMD GPU Clock Tool:
Hi, just download AMD GPU Clock Tool. It works with all cards.
Fixes: Large Cursor, Driver Crash/Recovery, Video Playback Unresponsive System
There are overclock and voltage settings there. For desktop usage, just use a modest OC and set the clock. The choose the higher voltage setting and set it. Do this right when windows boots so you maintain the small mouse pointer.
I just installed Windows 7 and I've been having an issue with my sound randomly turning off whenever I try to view a flash based video.
I use a receiver connected via optical out for my sound and restarting the receiver will resolve the problem temporarily. Further if I switch the source to my headphones sound will persist though not if I switch it back to the optical out.
I'm not actually certain this is a problem with windows 7 rather then my receiver being on its last legs but I thought I'd bring it up here just in case to see if anyone has ran into a similar problem? It's just strange that just a few days ago when I was on Vista I had no such problems.

I was pretty surprised at how well this runs. My last PC was an XP box, and I completely dodged the Vista fiasco. When I got my new PC home with Windows 7 64bit, I was expecting the worst.

I had a sound problem as well, but I just had to go find my motherboard's sound driver, and it fixed it.

Windows 7 is magic, a Belkin USB wireless stick that had not worked on any other computer I have tried it on and mostly caused random crashes and freeze ups when I did works flawlessly with Windows 7, flawlessly. What witchcraft is this? Desktop/text is still fuzzy though, will need to hunt for latest Video card drivers.

Seems to be a problem a lot of people are having, windows isn't letting them set the resolution and refresh rate on their monitor correctly. Turns out my monitor is refreshing at 60 Hz rather than the 100 it's capable of. And I'm fairly certain the resolution is wrong.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a universal solution to the problem.
Anyone have any idea how to make it so I get prompted to enter my password after resuming from Sleep? Vista did this by default, but 7 doesn't seem to (on my desktop, anyway. My laptop is fine, oddly.)

That's weird. I have used that Regedit fix on both RC and RTM Win7 x64 without any problems.
The reset all folders to the currents view does work if you do it for every foldertype Windows 7 uses (once for Video, once for audio, etc.)
So ever since I installed Windows 7 I've had high latency in games. Spicifically WoW and now Left4dead 2. It was higher then normal with Borderlands too. Any idea what could cause this?

If you are annoyed windows handles folders differantly based on content, use this guide to turn off music/video folders and let windows handle each folder the same way:

To reset all folder's view to the current one go into Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> "Apply to all folders".

I'm not sure if you're on an ATI card or not, but there's a couple reports that it's a new bug in the Catalyst drivers.
Another possibility is some wierd power saving bug.
It seems to be isolated to ATI - I'm running nVidia so I've not had to try and solve this yet.

Okay, so we add a day somewhere. 2012 is a leap year, so if we have a February 30th, we can do this.
