If we need another Asmodian server (though it doesn't look like we do), I would vote for Siel [West], unless we have people who really prefer East coast.
We probably won't, unless something goes horribly wrong. In the event that Zikel goes retarded/crashes/whatever at the beginning with all the people and it takes too long to fix, we may decide to move to another one. We'll see what happens first.
You might not be able to capture that exact look, but it's very wrong to believe that Aion only allows for creation of Animu pretty boys.

Picked this up on steam, downloading now. Making Elyos. There any good guides to different classes, and abilities? I have a friend that linked me to Aion Source and Aion Armory, but I just want a starter guide so I know what to pick in the beginning before I get all indepth in the info.

I make a lot of money doing part time data entry as a proof operator with super fast keying, that gives me a lot of time not at work, and playing MMOs is cheaper than going out all the time.
Edit - Steam counts logging out of the game and keeping the log in screen up as still "playing" as well. So even when I'm at work, or out of the house and the login screen is up, its ticking up the hours.

Corrigan, I'm not sure I know what kind of depth you are expecting in a an achetype to an MMO.
Gladiator: Beat shit to death with a big weapon. Good armor let's you take some punishment.
Templar: Tank
Ranger: Shoot things to death, slowing them with traps and kiting.
Assassin: Hides, sneaks, backstabs, repeats. Only difference from other MMOs is that you have the ability to run behind a mob's back to do a backstab mid combat, and skills that make it easier for you to do so.
Sorcerer: Fragile Nuke.
Spirit Master: Pet tanks, while you DPS from afar in your cloth armor. In groups, Pet uses more support abilities.
Cleric: Heal bot, with a shield and a mace.
Chanter: YOU SPOONY BARD! AoE buffs, defuffs, best Heal over Time (HoT) in the game.
If you want something more indepth, then you're gonna have to read those guides you are so hell bent on not reading, because I would need a few paragraphs for each class!

I was just looking for a link to a site or something with a bit more detail than "tank" and "dps". More about what their abilities are like through the beginning and midgame areas and what their focus is on. I imagine assassins are single target dps, but I know that in Lineage and some other mmos out there, their heavy armor class would do AE damage with polearms at least. Is there an AE melee damage class? Is there a difference between sorc specs that let you go for AE damage vs single target damage?

Damn, Corrigan, you hit my weak point. I have not played any class past level 15. But I can tell you exactly what the Stigmas are, they are the customization system in the game. Your character gets so many Customization Slots on em, those are for Stigmas. Basically, think of it as a permanent magic rub on tattoo. You get a Magic Tattoo and it has an effect when you put it on yourself. The effect is different for every tattoo. This tattoo lets you use a new AoE attack. This tattoo allows you to double the effect of this spell. This tattoo allows you to run faster than anyone else at your normal speed. It's the way you make your character unique.
In this game, everyone learns the same basic skills as they level. There are no talent points or talent trees. No specializing as you go down the ranks. There are magic tattoo that make you better at one or more parts of what you naturally do, and you can mix and match them however you want.
So, the basics of a class are "Glads use big weapons to hit things" and the specifics are "You can specialize them to do X, Y, Z" and so on.
It's really best if you try a class for yourself. because that is what level 1-10 is, a tutorial for you to learn the basics of the basics of a class. Do that and you'll learn if you enjoy playing it.

yeah my RL friend had problems installing Aion onto a drive other than C, and didn't get it sorted out till after Zikel was locked.

We may have to change the Asmodian server in the end after all, if this problem persists. We had the same thing happen with Siel and Israphel in the CBT.

Well, my deal is that yustiel is a recommended server which means it's one of the lowest pop servers.
How are we going to organize on Yustiel tomorrow? Do we have a chatroom or some place we can join?
The way we did it on open beta was that someone formed a channel that PA people could join; we won't get the legion up and running immediately, but we can get a channel for the Sorcelators running right off the bat.

a) you can make most armor/weapons look like any other model of the same type after level 30 and
b) there's a vendor in your capital that sells vendor-grade "templates" of $other_faction armor?
