No you won't, I haven't even started yet. Thesis defense+move+music festival+car explosion+new job next Thursday. I just got internet working and I don't even have a desk for my computer right now.
I'll be thrilled to start playing next weekend, see y'all then.
Definitely interested in picking this up. Quick questions: Can you have more than one character? What are the limits? And does it cost extra per month if you create more characters?

Elemenstors is now a level 2 legion and still looking to grow. This young legion is looking for fellow PAers who are interested in banding together: mains, alts, Horde or Space Marines, it matters not.
Ive gotta question that I haven't been able to find a result for. How worth it is crafting? I know it can make usable / valuable gear, but I'm finding it to be a very un-fun time sink so far. Is there crafted BoP endgame gear that cant be beat, or is extremely hard to beat with other stuff? Otherwise I might just screw crafting, and sell all the mats I gather.
It's like crafting in alot of games I'd imagine. Not sure how useful armor and weapon crafting will be end of game, but professions like cooks and alchemists will always be needed.
Master crafters (you can only have two professions at 450) also get snazzy titles with nice stat bonuses but you don't need to craft as all crafted gear is tradable as far a as I know.
Crafting is what will make you a good PvPer. Using the best potions, scrolls, armor, weapons, accessories, manastones. Most of those can be made via crafting, manastones can be upgraded via crafting.

But you can buy all that shit from other players, cant you?
Crafting won't make you a good pvp'er as you can get all that stuff off other crafters. Yes that is the lazy option but it's just as viable
This. I'm pretty sure I would much rather buy crafted stuff using the additional kinah I'd get from selling mats and from spending my time playing instead of sitting in front of a crafting bench for the ridiculous amounts of time it looks like it might take.
So, someone who is familiar with stats in the game:
What is the value of Physical Defense for a Templar vs HP?
I'm looking at the Black Cloud Hat I have on which provides no Def at all, but a decent amount of HP/MP (MP is irrelivant to me atm) and trying to decide if I should swap it out at this point with a helmet with actual defense. I can make a Noble Durable Steel Helmet that will have roughly the same Evasion/Magic Resist but loses the HP/MP for a lot of Defense.
So I failed to find a collector's edition of the game, so I haven't bought it yet... Is the CE worth it, in your opinions?
Also, could someone give me a brief comparison of the game to WoW? I've been playing WoW the most recently (I've tried WAR and played FFXI for years before I finally quit) so I just want to see how it compares.
Lastly, how integral is PvP? I dislike open PvP (if it's like a WoW battleground that's fine- but I hate being attacked while questing). What's to look forward to end-game?
PVP is open in higher levels, you can even go on raids into enemy territory.
Also you can buy regular versions of Aion and upgrade on the ncsoft site to CE status for $10, the difference between regular and CE Anyways, so no worries on that front.

Ah, thanks for that tidbit about the "upgrade."
So higher levels = open PvP? If it's anything like WoW's PvP servers, I'm afraid I'll have to pass. I do not enjoy being steamrolled by some higher-level player just because they felt like it.
Partying is greatly encouraged once you get to 18+. And a good party, not just find 5 people and pray for the best. If you want to make positive xp you need a real tank, a real healer, and some dps.
Edit - I should rephrase that. there are certain level spots where parties can blow solo xp out of the water. I imagine you can grind out a few levels solo if you want, but grouping will greatly expand your possibilities for xp.

So I read all of the old thread and gave up on around page 50 of this and skipped here. :P
I love this game and after days of reading about it and ultimately, not doing much else (Horrible Cold-Sickness GO!)
I pretty much must buy this.
I thought that the game would be less demanding on my system,
but I have a shitty entry-level Lenovo notebook so I guess the "Fixed FPS" option meaning 10-30 FPS max is to be expected.
After I build a new gaming PC (first timer!) I am so in on this. 8-)

For all people who wish to join the Sorcelators, well...I'm afraid that won't be happening for a while. I put in a lot of effort and found that there are only three people who had lost the right to be in the legion, and those slots have already been filled.
But the good news is that the private channel, that you can access by typing in /join PAAion wang, has been working all day and the Elemenstors legion is fully running. It has another 40 spaces for people to join. We're sister Legions so there is very little difference to becoming a Sorcelator or an Elemenstor.
Contact Moriarty in game, join the PAAion channel, or look at the List of Officers in the Elemenstor section of the PAA Aion Legion website to find people who can help you join the Legion.

I have seen a a few screens of this game and I am now interested in it, though I am by no means an MMO expert (I've only played SWG, CoH, Champions in beta and WoW) but is it at least slightly easy to get into?
If you've played WoW you should be able to settle into Aion with relative ease.
It's not WoW by any means, but there are a plethora of similarities and at the very least the UI/control scheme should feel mostly at home (with a few tweaks in the interface menu).
So, I'm having some weird lag issue. My game will start chugging along like graphics lag, but my cursor is moving smoothly. Then I rubber-band a bit, then it goes back to normal. It's pretty unplayable though...
I've updated my graphics drivers and futzed with all the options, as well as tried playing during peak and non-peak hours, no change. Any thoughts?
So hit 23 and leveling definitely got a bit more troublesome solo. I know I should be grouping at this level but is there specific stuff?
Do I just go grab a bunch of quests then find some other people to blow through them with?
Just get a group and kill everything in site?
Are their elite areas for this level range that groups can grind on?

Sadly, it's far more brutal then WoW. In the Abyss today I died to roving gank squads maybe 20 or so times, and put twice as many Asmos to the torch in a gank squad of my own. You'll have to find friends, be packing pots, and constantly be watching your radar, but that's why I'm in love with this game at the moment. Imagine if Stranglethorn was the place your whole server went to level from 25-endgame (yeah you can quest outside, but the XP, DP, and AP are soooo nice!) and enemy players had lots of quests to kill you and your NPCs and vice versa and were aptly rewarded for murdering you and you'll start to get the idea of what a madhouse the Abyss is (on Siel anyways). Most players aren't at the Abyss yet either, so I can't image how nutty it's going to be this weekend.

Guess I'll be passing after all.
This should be confirmed by others at higher level, but my impression is that you can skip the Abyss and just do PvE questing to cap. In fact I remember a dev saying you could "certainly" do that. However I don't know what end-game content there is that doesn't include PvP.

I can't remember how to do it but there is a way to run a trace to see what happens to information when you send it to a server.
Also did you check your ping in game? /ping
/ping gives me values under 150ms, what's this trace route thingy?
What are you running? I am having issues running my BootcampVista with the 9600 GT M card it has. (or is it 9800 GT M?)
similar to your issues, but i also get audio tearing.... but out side of these incidents, i hardly lag.... so it seems I have huge lag spikes for no apparent reason.
Conversely, it was much worse when I was trying to be conservative with my graphics silders. So, i pumped them up to max, and get a minor FPS loss, but with less freezes, but I am 90% sure this is due to the card limiting its voltage when its not too taxed, and the roller coaster of voltage was affecting it. Still haven't found a firm fix for it, so I am scared for when I start hitting areas where a loss of input for 2-10seconds could be fatal.
