I mean the earlier ones were more like resident evil with a tad of somewhat sluggish combat, but from what I hear 3 and maybe DoD are more action-oriented?
I only played the first two. I dunno, they were gory as fuck and you cut things with a katana. it sorta fits the bill.
I have no idea about the newer ones
But I can second Shinmue, that game is magic

You know, I honestly hope they venture out of the whole gothic asethetic with DMC5. I remember quitting DMC4 early because it looked just like DMC1. A change in setting would be nice.
(never played DMC3 and have been told multiple times not to play DMC2)
DMC2 was urban and industrial. DMC3 took place in a giant brown tower that burrows through the earth and straight down to the pits of hell. Both were less visually compelling than the gothic mansions in 1 and 4, and way less visually compelling than 4's other outdoor areas.
Not that they couldn't do a new setting well if they really wanted to. I just don't know if I trust them to based on that track record.
Bah. I"m glad Capcom doesn't pump out DMC's on a yearly (or bi-yearly) basis. A game a year is too much. I wouldn't want the franchise getting stale too quickly.
Seriously, I'd rather Capcom work on other interesting things rather than rehash a franchise every 12 to 24 months.
Looks like pretty slim pickings from where I'm standing. I certainly wouldn't spend money on a game like Conan with the holiday/early next year rush coming soon--why not wait for God of War III, and maybe tide yourself over with the soon-to-be-released remakes of I and II?

That's my plan, at any rate.
This is a good plan, but December is a long wait.
Also, I get a lot of game time in, and really all that's jumping out at me this holiday season is Uncharted 2, R&C Future 3, Alpha Protocol and GOW I and II.

Brutal Legend looks pretty good as a brawler, but it's also got that RTS stuff thrown in.
Which is why I no longer have any interest in it. ;-)
That seems like a hard reason to knock the game though. It's not like it cuts to a warcraft 3 minigame mid battle. Seems like just simple dpad commands.
Didn't Ratchet: Deadlocked have something similar? Or was everyone all up in arms over that too.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
So nearly 2 years in a relatively small-ish-to-make game (compared to open world games) with no news whatsoever.

They've been rather busy with quite a few new games. Maybe they had to split up the DMC team to help out the others?
Yesssss
But that's next year, isn't it?
Also, the demo for WET was awful.
Seriously? NG2 was so easy compared to NG1. In so many ways.
You see. Sure a game can be easy if you find an exploit and abuse it. But if you're actually looking to play a game then your mileage may vary.

The minute something gets radial menus (which it has), I lose all interest.
You're not going to get Bayonetta anyway? But it's the real sequel to DMC1...
Look man, I'm not a priest! I have needs!
