Have any other medics chimed in about the regeneration? I find myself using the vanilla needle gun now since I don't have to rely on the blut to keep me alive.
Still no reason to use a regular bonesaw though.
the blut is in every way superior to the normal gun.
There's literally no reason not to use it.
It will save your life countless times, especially running away from heavies/soldiers.
Here's a reason: You're a good medic.
Medics are there to heal people, not fucking needle gun them. The blut heals slower than the needle gun now and if you use a blut then you are either stuck in your ways or a shitty battle-medic. It's like using the normal axe over the axtinguisher.
edit: Oh, welp. Anyway, Medics get 3 hp/second now. The blut lowers it to 1 hp/second. The regen now doubles instead of tripling, so the needle gun gets you a total of 6 health a second versus the blut's 2 a second.

I hate how they make adjustments to the unlocks so they make other options inferior.
I mean what's the advantage to using the blut now?
I've tried both since the update, and I still prefer the blut. The needlegun has its merits now, but the burst healing suits me better. If I've I'm at more than 100 HP, I still recover fast. If I'm at less than that, I find a medpack or just shoot somebody for a second and go back to healing.
I find it amusing, the people who say pulling out a weapon for any amount of time makes you a battle medic. If anything, it just means you suck at protecting me, and I'm doing your job plus mine for a minute. Or killing a sniper. I see a sniper, and I'm doing everything in my power to make him dead.
Edit: if they perhaps increased the uber/kritz charge with the needlegun equiped, this might be a good substitute.
Oh, no, this is all the time. So with the needlegun, you get the 3-6 a second all the time and with the blut it's 1-2 with the +3 a hit boost. And they both crit.
Before it was only while equipped and the blut was stupidly overpowered.

the blut now has normal medic regen, but you can have more direct combat survivability, and infact outpace the SG's regen if you are fighting a dude and all the needles hit.
the blut has spike regeneration in combat.
the syringe gun has increased regeneration normally.

Very, very good points mandalore.
This is what I was thinking, if I was in a situation where I NEEDED health, I'd just shoot into a crowd of mans or get a healthpack.
Right after, go back to healing mans. The needlegun might be good to keep your health stable, but that doesn't matter when you've got 2 scouts coming at you.
I'd rather have the blut for defense against the scouts. Then at least I might kill one of them and survive.
but mandalore is right, if you even pull out either you're not being protected enough, therefore the blut is a more viable option for surviving those close calls.

If you take the beam off me to shoot a target that I am well aware of, that makes you a bad medic. Sorry I'm not shooting the fucking medic and soldier combo because I'm shooting the scout that will take you out in two shots, I'm pretty sure we can both dodge the medium ranged rockets, right? Or if you go to spy check while I'm at 40 health. I'd be looking for spies for you but I have to go get a fucking med-pack instead. And then you pick up my ammo that I'd use to put you out. There's times when you use a needle gun. When you have a class to heal is not that time.
I like the needle gun because I can almost always ignore my health and just heal people. I'm at 50 health and on fire? No prooooooblem.

yeah, and if you are only going to be taking attrition (being set on fire, hit by a stray bullet, in the radius of a passing bomb, etc) the needlegun will do you better.
it's for very cautious, well protected, pacifist medics. that probably don't exist when there are scouts in the world.
Scouts are something I really disagree on, in particular. If they're good/lucky scouts, I'm dead before either of us can notice them. If they're bad scouts(read: 98.4% of scouts) they're pussies and won't attack a medic who fights back. You attack the medic/soldier combo defensively, I'll make the scout run off with his tail between his legs with plenty of time to continue healing you.
I really, really don't pull out my blut every fight, but I'll abandon you if I'm not mostly sure you can win. I'd rather save my 70% uber than my teammate.

The only time I don't notice a scout is when I'm pyro and they have the FaN. I'm still not used to them getting into the places they can go. As medic, I pay less attention to the front lines and fighting and more to my surroundings.
Moreso after I got backstabbed while a medic was hitting the fucking spy instead of calling it out, since apparently it's your own fault if you get backstabbed while a teammate is well aware, yet silent, about the spy. I don't play medic and consider fighting even a minor part of the class, but I think I do pretty alright.
Edit: Also see the joke is that you don't need to go out of your way to draw my attention to scouts. I figured it would be a pretty obvious joke but GUESS NOT.
I'm still not sure how pulling out your 10% hit chance weapon increases the odds of survival over keeping the class that is meant to kill stuff alive. I've never, ever, ever seen a fight won because the medic decided that he wanted to play demoman.
Edit: see because the medic has to arc his slow moving projectile. Demomedic.

Blut is still better in every situation than needlegun. When you have it out, that means you're getting attacked, and those +3 per needle help wayyyy more than the +2 per second from normal regen.
Ubersaw is still better in every situation than the bonesaw. If you ever need more than one bonesaw hit to kill your target, you would have been better off running away anyways.
Regarding scouts: theres often a delay of up to 2 seconds for voicechat. By the time you hear me yelling about scouts its often too late. If the scout is good.

Yeah, no, if you get taken down to half health and there's no targets nearby, you can't go retardmedic and shoot at them to get health, so the needle gun is better. You do know that the regeneration changes apply even if you don't have the gun out, right? The needlegun is better if you plan on healing people instead of running to health packs while spraying needles as your team gets killed.
And there's about a half second delay in voice chat. You should be able to see and call out the scout in that amount of time nine times out of ten. And pulling out your fucking blut isn't going to help a damn bit against a good scout.

Goomba just hates weapons he can't reflect.
This may well be true but what point does it make regarding the discussion at hand?
I'll argue that as it stands, the syringe gun has taken the lead as the weapon of choice. Any stray shots, explosives, what have you no longer wear you down as much as you are regenerating faster without having to resort to offensive measures. You can also keep on healing your team and building your charge.
The blutsauger provides a spike of regeneration that will save you in situations where your teammate either can't (distracted, dead, douche, all the D's, etc.). I'd go as far as saying that it forces you to be even more defensive as you can't risk taking damage as much unless you have a viable target to leach off of.

really what I'm getting from this discussion is that Blut is better when your teammates suck
and the Needle Gun is better when your teammates don't suck
To be fair, [strike]any[/strike] all scouts [strike]bad enough to lose to a blutsauger medic could probably[/strike] need to be killed with a [strike]the needle[/strike] gun or [strike]uber[/strike] a saw [strike]just as easily[/strike] in real life

god knows it's lovely seeing your health regenerate in visible chunks with the syringe gun
It was in that last update. Medic passive regen doubled. That's why the blut has that -2, it slows down the regen.
I still think the blut is a superior option, but it certainly made the needlegun a viable choice.

They are literally both the same thing now.
Needlegun equiped = Faster passive regen
Blut equiped = Faster direct needle regen
It's like Valve wants our brains to explode.

the basic medic regeneration rate has been increased- it's now 3-6hp per second
but if you got the blut, you no longer get this boost

Shout "THERE'S A SCOUT GET THE SCOUT KILL THE SCOUT KILL IT KILLSCOUT TKILL THE FUCK SCOUT KILL KILL KILL" It works!
what if they get the jump on you
or if they kill you so fast your partner cannot react
Try protecting your medic goomba when you have ducom or tiny lobstah on your hands.
exactly.
goomba has an answer for everything though nuzak.
Oh also if I'm nearby you don't have to shout about scouts, just say there's a scout nearby.

what if you are not there to protect me
how will i survive without his guarding gaze
oh god, what if i vote accidentally

The moment he smells a scout's blood there he has only one goal in mind: track it down
and burn it
You forgot to mention popping a kritz on your meatsheild as Scouts deserve to die at the same speed they run.
Right. Teammate will be back in the game in 20 seconds or less. A full uber? That's at least a minute of preparation.
Unless the team is making a successful push, there's no reason for a medic to risk dying for a single person.
Edit: see because the medic has to arc his slow moving projectile. Demomedic.
Scouts should know how to close the gap and avoid the needles with the medic.

Yeah, some of the good scouts can tear me apart as medic. But then again those good scouts could tear me apart as anything, even heavy.

Which is why my team usually wins. edit: when I go medic.
Fixed!
Sounds about right.
