It kind of terrifies me when i went to google this, this very same page was the only result.
I must know what this map is. I noticed Hey You doing a lot of Source SDK over the weekend, so I figure it's his new effort.
Shhhhhhhh... its a secret project.
Its a collaboration between Littleboots and me
Ive already said too much
*drool*
It's a wang.
:winky:
Also, apologies to anyone who didn't appreciate the mentally challenged heavy traipsing around earlier and thank you to those who took it in stride and played along. Handicapped Heavy appreciated it.
In other news, some screenshots showing the slow progress of my non-secret map.
First up, an overview of the initial team spawns:
Each team has the main exit out of the garage, and a back door with protected lines of sight to limit spawn camping.
Climb up the hill past the second CP and look down, you see this. To give a sense of scale, a scout can double jump to that tower in the middle, then double jump to the other side of the canyon:
If you stand on the cliffs on blue side and look towards red, you see red side. They get a bit of a mining operation theme (though right now I think it's hard to tell):
Red spawn is inside that boring looking building in the middle. I've started the displacements, though it's still pretty barren. That red patch on the left is red's protected access to the ground level, which drops into a cave:
Another shot standing on red side:
The ramped rail is really annoying to navigate around, I'll probably have to remove it.
Standing on red's side and looking across, you see blue side. Their spawn is the building in the middle (access is granted after capturing the first CP). They get more of a village motif on their side. Long term, lines of sight will be equally restricted on red's side, to keep snipers under control.
Standing on blu's side again, there's a little courtyard outside the spawn:
Underneath the roof I'm standing on is blue's "safe" access to ground level.
Whole project isn't going as fast as I'd like, but I'm averaging 1 hour of work a night so slow is inevitable. This is one half of the map.. I haven't even begun the second stage.
I'm merely drawing analogies to Valve's backstab code.
Hmm yes, pyros have no experience with annoying/bad hit detection.
Man people have complained forever about the hit detection on the backburner and I've been roasting enemies with it like Rak smokes blunts.
Hit detection on the backburner is acceptable.. the hard part is actually getting behind the enemy. Not many maps have routes that make it easy for a pyro to flank.

That and the PA servers play the same 3-4 maps with this issue.

make your brushes like this
if you keep that lip, your displacements are going to be 20 different kinds of a pain in the hole, and not sew properly etc

Get rid of every 2nd 3rd and 4th post in this fence.
I play punching heavy on it just to spite the people who voted for it.
Man, I would politely question your taste, perhaps offer a few points in the map's favor to sway your opinion, but if you're going to throw a game because you don't like the map I have nothing to say to you. Go ahead and disconnect if you're going to take that attitude. You don't have the right to waste other people's time.
Kupi on
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
Did you know that we are simpletons for playing pyro? Rak said so.
But anyway, I tried to light a sniper on fire and despite fanning my flames around like I was having a seizure, none of them hit him and I was pretty unhappy about that.

Actually I become a invaluable asset to the team since last time I did that I had a sniper (rifle+jarate) and 2 engies chase me around CP E for a good 6 minutes.

He's talking in general about the way flames work and their unpredictability.
The backburner does work when you hit that 2 degree angle that valve gave it instead of backstabs 270, sometimes 360 degree range.

xzzy:
instead of making your fences ala fence one (top fence)
make them like the 2nd one.
with the 1st fence the game has to render 13 brushes
2nd fence it renders 7 brushes.
If they're sticking to a model fence, it's a model and uses a box surrounding the model for collision, shut up anyways, fire over the fucking fence.

SO boring
edit: pyro i mean
I have used the powers of science and determined that you are a bad map.
not really
playing soldier against such a team leads to fun times of airshots and way too many dominations
