Let's play Diablo III..er, I mean Titan Quest!

Because, you know, Diablo III might possibly be out by the end of '12 if we're lucky. But Titan Quest is a surprisingly good, fun Diablo clone that you can play right now and you can get Titan Quest Gold (which includes the expansion Immortal Throne) on Steam for only $19.99!

Titan quest is only a couple of years old, so unlike D2 it actually still looks great. Now I'm not dissing D2, it's a fucking great game and it's aged pretty well. However I honestly think TQ is better in many respects. For anyone who's played the Diablo games, this is really easy to pick up. However there are some differences (for the better I think). First off, NO IDENTIFYING. You know what everything is when you pick it up. Simple. Also, NO PORTAL SCROLLS. You do have portals, but they're unlimited and you just click on your portal button or press L to open one. So no more managing how many ident or portal scrolls you have, or taking stuff to Deckard Cain.

Also, this game (not even including the expansion) is quite large and lengthy. There's a lot of gameplay here. It's split into regions similar to how D2 is split into acts. I've been playing for hours and hours and I'm just recently into the 3rd and final area (you start in Greece, travel to Egypt, and then finally to Asia. I guess no Asian countries are worthy of their own act, how racist.)

titanquest04179.jpg

Another difference is that you don't choose a class when you start the game. Everyone starts out the same (aside from choosing gender and the color of your tunic) but once you level up you get to choose one of eight masteries that are basically like classes.

There is multiplayer for this game, I have a level 31 conqueror but would also be down with starting a new char for multiplayer mayhem if anyone else is down.
WHO WILL THROW DOWN WITH ME AND FIGHT BEASTS OF LEGEND?

Ok, adding some links with some good info.
First off, here is some good info on where it's more effective to farm for particular charms, relics, and artifact formulas.

And here is a good walkthrough of TQ and IT with maps showing where all the points of interest are in each area. Not really all that necessary in TQ because it's mostly linear, but becomes quite useful in IT which isn't as linear so there's stuff you can easily miss or you may want to skip the side stuff and look up where to go to focus on the main quest.

I don't know anything about custom mods yet. I've just been having lots of fun with the vanilla game. If you or anyone else wants to add links to mods you like, feel free!

I got Spirit with Storm, and immediately stopped playing to delete my character, re-import him at level 5, so I could then level up to 8 and get defense.

I was really thinking on getting Dream, but I didn't want to be all magic cause fuck that shit I want some spartan armor be all get fuuucked.

    Now I am Thor.

I enjoyed b.net and playing with friends whenever I want. also not relying on some third party program to store loot.

I am still confused about the third party loot system?

and the ragdolls are hilarious, occasionally I uppercut dudes into the fucking stratus with my little scythe there.

    her name is thresher

t wren and stimpy: do not confuse talking About a game in a thread, with telling everyone what you don't like about the game, when this thread is about possibly playing it together.

Just seems like a bit of an ass move, also who really gives a shit.

oh well there's this program that keeps track of your characters save data and you can transfer stuff in his inventory to the programs "vault" and keep it there, while deleting the one in the inventory.

I'm a packrat when it comes to loot games so it was pretty handy

oh the transfer vault on the caravan driver?

the shared stash to move items from character to character is actually pretty cool I think, cause when I didn't want the 5 other characters I made, got some bank cause getting my charms back is fucking ex pen sive.

Nebulous I believe it is 8?

wait, you're complaining about having to use a 3rd party app to do something you can't do in D2 anyway?

I believe it was always the same, but I never found the caravan dude in the normal game cause I was focused on trying out all the masteries beforehand.

But when you find a caravan driver, you have a storage that can be doubled and then tripled in size for a ton of money, and then you have a full sized "Transfer" storage, that allowed all your characters to move items around, so if you played multiple people you could give your caster items to the caster you play, and stuff like that.

or just use it to move all your charms from a character you don't want anymore.

mostly felt it didn't give me enough space when I could just easily transfer stuff in b.net. but it sounds like they added some way to transfer items between characters anyways.

also ONO SOMEONE DOESNT LKE THE SAME GAME AS ME, WAT A FGT
