I need to know what games are essential for me to own.
I've played brain age, and the other brain one (it didn't help my short-term recall), and I enjoyed them, but I don't think I'm going to pick those up just yet.
I'd like a good RPG to get me started, and maybe something that uses the touch screen as well.
You would probably be better off searching/starting a thread in G&T for this...
However, I do enjoy Final Fantasy III quite a bit. Other games like Trauma Center and Phoenix Wright (or something like that), while not RPG's, are pretty unique, story driven, and make good use of the touch screen.
I've heard good things about the Castlevania DS games.
Yes.
I just purchased Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and damn, it is fun and very, very addictive. Castlevania is a great replacement for 2d side scrolling Metroid games, if you're into that, since none of those have been coming out lately.
Ill agree on Final Fantasy III, which I played almost non-stop til I got Trauma Center. I also have new super mario bros, mario 64 ds, mario vs dk2, and final fantasy v advance and tactics advance. I have really enjoyed every one of those games so far (except mario64 ds, which I havent got to play yet) so I would recomend any of those.
I had Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, but I cannot vouch for it being that great. I found the controlling of four characters more tedious than actually fun.
Children of Mana is out, but I haven't heard much about it.
Right now I'm having a fun time with Elite Beat Agents, for sure. It's a rhythm game with semi-popular songs, though that's not always a good thing. Avril Lavigne and Good Charlotte. However, I actually enjoyed those songs because I knew them already.
Contact is very...I don't know how to put it, but I definitely did not have fun with it. It's got a great sense of humor, and has a decent combat system, but it felt pretty bland overall. I gave up when I had to go find that old man's dog.

It's got your touch screen RPG thing covered. But if that doesn't suit you, there's always Lost Magic.

Limed for fun. the game's kinda kid-ish, but if you have WiFi, the online bit is rather fun.
Also get Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. This is a great RPG and you will not regret buying it at all.
FF3 is good too. Just know that you are in for an older style RPG.
If you like strategy games then I would get Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
Go for some GBA Golden Sun games too. Some great RPGs.

Oh, hey I'm making a game! Check it out: Dr. Weirdo!

The online was painfully choppy for me.
But, it is an RTS/RPG, and definitely fulfilled my urge to use the stylus. It's a very stylus heavy game.
Non RPG ideas:
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart DS
Elite Beat Agents
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Tetris DS
I think I'll pick up FFIII (i'm into the older style, i swears)
and maybe trauma center (i've heard good things!)
Thanks guys.
