    I almost puked at that.
But the mini chainsaws are ungodly. A friend of mine actually found an awesome strategy for having an easy time with zombies. But it's recommended you try this with a good high Stock level.
Go to Bachman's Bookporium in Paradise Plaza and get Entertainment and Engineering books.
Go to Wonderland Plaza (where you face Adam) and after dealing with him, pick up the chainsaw and head over to Sir Books-A-Lot (also at Wonderland Plaza) and pick up Criminal Biography.

Small chainsaw = these three books = 27 times longer use. Ungodly.

Yep, Genocider gets you the megabuster.

Mega Man Boots = Get the True ending without being knocked out.
Mega Man Tights = Defeat 10 psychopaths.
Real Mega Buster = Defeat 53,594 zombies.

No, as in by the Special Forces. One ending involves you being captured by the SF in overtime mode and not escaping. The capture happens whenever you would normally die. So if you want the boots, you just have to make it all the way through overtime mode, which is really pretty easy.

I was going for the boots, but even if I wasn't I would have reloaded every time I got knocked out. That shit is annoying and I'm not going back to find all the books, items, and clothes I had. Though the cultist leader mission drove me nuts because it happened like 3 times.

Any suggestion for doing the Zombie Genocide? I know I should go down into the maintenance tunnels and mow the zombies down with vehicles, Carmageddon-stylee, but it still takes a long time to do. I have tried it once, when I had finished all the case files and was waiting for the chopper, but couldn't get anywhere near 50 000+ zombies before my time ran out.

When is a good time to do this? Should I just ignore all survivors and psychos and focus on the body count?

Start as soon as possible, and make sure you have another form of entertainment, as it will get boring.

you're breaking my balls, Dead Rising :(

so, i'd just done one case mission, which involved a lot of waiting around from where i'd saved, then escorting someone all the way back to the security office. I'd managed to screw up, get my health down to 1 point, and was | | this close to failure, but i did it. Then i get a DRE while it's loading up, and i lose the lot :(
    this was a little trying.

Yeah, I've been getting a shit ton of DRE errors with my copy. I bought it for cheap from a sale at Blockbuster, so it's got a few scratches on it. But I've seen worse looking disks run on the PS2 for god's sake. So right now I'm wondering if it's maybe the disk, or if the XBOX (which I bought brand new 2 months ago) is going south.

It's been pissing me off too, since it's effectively lying to me. Tries to load a scene, stops spinning the disk, and kicks me back to the dashboard saying it's a dirty disk. Load the game up again, without ever ejecting, and it magically can load again? Bull.

The DRE issues you guys are having might be a result of a corrupt cache. Word is that holding down "x" while the game boots (during the 360 intro screen) will clear that game's cache. It might fix your issue.

i thought it was due to overheating, since i was getting DREs with both Dead Rising and Gears of War, and had the console in a relatively confined space. When i started moving it out onto the floor, Gears has been absolutely fine. Started paying Dead Rising for the first time in a few weeks, and BAM, up the error pops. I'll give that cache-clearing trick a go, but it sounds more like an issue with the console itself. I can hear the dvd drive clunking and whirring away as it spins up and tries to read the disc, then fails. It's heartbreaking :(

Yup, exact same thing as me. I know it's not overheating, because I have the system next to a window, and I have a nasty habit of leaving it open, turning the room into a refrigerator. But the sounds are the same. First the drive slows way down, killing about 90% of the general noise of the machine, then I hear WHIRRRR *click* WHIRRRR *click*, and finally its completely silent with the "Dur, your disk is dirty" message.

The only other disk that's been worse was a copy of Saint's Row that I borrowed from a friend. However, his had a giant circular scratch in the middle. So I just dismissed that as a combo of crappy disk and other bugs in the game that I found out upon investigating.

Well, if the system is turning out to go to shit (not 2 fucking months since I bought it too :x ), it's a good thing I bought the 2 year product plan from Futureshop for an easy exchange.

So, this thread made me want to finally finish Dead Rising. I load it up, I'm at the point where [spoiler:96a5e2b93f]I'm waiting with Isabella in her brothers' spot above the ceiling.[/spoiler:96a5e2b93f]
I was a bit rusty, and figured I'm supposed to wait until midnight (currently 22:00). Each time, right as 23:45 rolls around, I get the loading icon as I expect, only to be followed up with the DRE message. I take out my disc after the third failure, and I've got a nice ring gouged into it about 3 mm or so from the edge. My younger brother, in a very matter of fact tone, tells me "yeah, the 360 does that to games". After restraining myself from blowing up at him, I find out the Gears of War has the same gouge, at roughly the same area. The 360 is now off limits to leave my desk, as I'm pretty certain it was caused by / during a trip when he took it to a friends house.

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

    [spoiler:96a5e2b93f]GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR[/spoiler:96a5e2b93f]

Guess I get to check how much Dead Rising is running when I go shopping tomorrow.

I bought a $25 disc cleaner/resurfacer from GameStop to try to fix an Arrested Development DVD that had been scratched by my 360. It went from freezing completely to skipping just once. I could probably buff it again but whatever. Anyways, trying that might help with GoW and Dead Rising for you, as opposed to buying another copy of the game.

Also, beat the hell out of your brother.

Ah, I finally did the Zombie Genocide thing and got the real MegaBuster. It was an epic grind, but I ignored all survivors and psychos, except for Adam (I really wanted the chainsaws) and one girl (Pamela?), who was directly in my path as I was heading for the security room. I killed all my zombies and I had time to spare. Next up, is a psycho run, to unlock the MegaMan tights and then I'll have the whole set.

Someone mentioned the lightsaber, which I had forgotten all about. How do I unlock that one?

Ironically, you have to survive in infinity mode for five days...which would be much easier if you had a lightsaber.

    Yay for more Dead Rising!

Here's a question I'm too lazy to google for the answer. I unlocked the Karate Champ acheivement but didn't get an ending in the same play-through so I am now missing my [spoiler:5f60aaad5d]Wrestling Tights[/spoiler:5f60aaad5d].

My next play-through will be to get the Zombie Genocider, if I kill the first 1,000 zombies without weapons (which doesn't unlock the acheivement again) but finish the game this time, will I get both items?

I unlocked the achievement but then started a new game without getting an ending, so the costume wasn't in the security room. So my question was, can I still get the costume by killing 1,000 zombies barehanded again (and this time playing the game through to an ending) even though the achievement is already unlocked.

I know at least a couple of the stand alone stores here locally have a professional resurfacing machine they use for games that are traded in, and will resurface your disks for you for like $5 a pop. I've never had to use it myself, but from what I've heard, it works really well.

I had my 360 set up vertically until I got a DRE in Dead Rising. I look at the disc and I have a bunch of scratches in a near perfect circle close to the center of the disc. :x I got the game new, so unless they shipped it to me scratched my 360 tried to fucking eat it.

That aside, the game is starting to piss me off less as I level up and it actually becomes Moderately Difficult, as opposed to playing it the first time in What The Fuck Difficulty.

[spoiler:f0c9ec050f]It wouldnt be so bad if I didnt have to fight the bloody tank again after Brock kills you. Especially considering its a very very poorly done fight of "hold down the x button"[/spoiler:f0c9ec050f]
