My video card died and it will be three or four months before I can replace it. I blame the economy.
So I was wondering if anyone had some good gaming suggestions to play on my decidedly weaker laptop. (I'll post the specs at the end) I prefer deep rpg's (anything but cheesy ass jrpg's) I like rogue likes but I want to feel like I'm playing a modern game. Other genres are O.K. but I hate RTS games.
I'm running a AMD Turian dual core at 2 ghz, 3 gigs of ram, windows vista, and apparently DX10.

I hear you on $. But if you're really keen to get a video card, can't you just temp for like 6-12 hours and get enough for a decently priced video card?
Well the Fallout games are available on GOG.com, those are usually a good start for laptop gaming. There are the other Black Isle RPG's but they're harder to come by.
Deus Ex (which means someone has to play it now) is available on Steam.
System Shock 2 is also hard to come by but well worth it.
Diablo 1 and 2 are still genre staples and can run on pretty much any modern laptop.
Do you like Shmups by any chance? You'll probably like indie game Jets 'n' Guns. The name is completely self explanatory, I assure you. Reminds me of Tyrian or Xenon 2 in that you upgrade your ship as the game progresses.
You can also probably play UT2004 on there, but I'd try the demo first and see. Earlier Unreal games are pretty much a given. Those are also available from GOG.com

I'm in school full time and work on the weekends. So my time is already limited. Oh yeah Deus Ex, forgot about that one.
Bone up on the classics if you can find them.
Aliens vs Predator 2
Neverwinter Nights
Starcraft / Diablo2 / Warcraft 3
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Deus Ex
Max Payne 1 and 2
Medal of Honor Allied Assault ( Still probably my Fav ww2 pc game next to COD 1 )

I'm pretty sure your laptop can run the Orange Box, mine can and it's crapper than yours is.
I'm not sure what the Myth games can be classified as; I've heard them described as a more tactical RTS, but I, like you, simply detest most RTS games.

spec wise my laptop is the same as his at definitely can NOT run TF2
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
Spec wise my laptop is worse than his and runs TF2 just fine, you just need to throw it into DX8 mode.
Seriously I have less ghz, less RAM, Windows XP, and DX8. I've played TF2 and Portal.
do you have an actual factual video card?
Because I am pretty sure this guy is working with an integrated deal

They're great games nevertheless.
