Holy crap, in a few hours Telltale Games is giving away the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island for free, for talk like a pirate day! I don't know how many of you are into that, but everyone loves free stuff, it's at www.playlikeapirate.com in case anyone hasn't seen.

edit: although now i'm wondering (although i'll still download it), will my enjoyment of this game be hampered if I haven't played previous monkey island games out of laziness(i know shameful, never got to it even with the re-release)?
Um, sort of. It all kind of goes together. You could probably get away with it though.
The re-release is on sale on Steam for $5 in honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day.

The only game I ever played through was... whatever the one on the PS2 was called. Thought it was hilarious. I've also got 800 Xbox points that I've been sitting on and have been waffling back and forth on whether to get the remake.
That was Escape from Monkey Island, which is actually the worst of the series (though I liked it as well, it was my entry point to the series).
I am a freaking nerd.
Definitely get the remake, although if you have $5 lying around you can grab it from Steam and save the Xbox points for something important like a Mass Effect suit for your avatar.
So... if I thought the worst game in the series was a really good and funny game... if I play one of the earlier ones...

Well, I wouldn't guarantee it, but... it wouldn't hurt to have 911 on speed dial, well and a friend nearby that will call them for you.
Last month I played Curse for the first time.
It was so awesome that I played through the whole thing in 2 sittings in one day.
The break was to get rid of the hiccups I got from cracking up.

I also had to get Bone as I already own everything else. Combined with the treasure map thingy in the first episode that's both Bone episodes I've got for free now from Tales of Monkey Island :P
