Buying Guns Online

So, after a few trips to the range, I've decided to purchase a Glock 26. It's nice, light, and from what I understand about Glocks, reliable.

I looked around online and most people were talking about how they purchased them for under $500. That seemed reasonable to me. I went to Cabela's only to see that they had it for $609. I then tried Bass Pro Shop, and it was $579 there. The guy at Bass Pro Shop, after dodging quite a bit, said that I could order it online and have it shipped there for pickup.

Now comes the tricky part. I have never purchased a gun online, so I wouldn't know where to start. I wouldn't know which sites would be the best. I don't know who the "Neweggs" and "Monoprices" are, if you will. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?

Buying online is tough if you don't have a decent gun shop near by... remember that the gun can't be shipped to you. It has to be received by someone with a FFL. Decent gun shops will do so for a reasonable price (no more than $50), but some will give you a ton of shit for it.

A lot of folks on these forums like Bud's Gun Shop for their online firearm shopping.

Yeah, the guy at Bass Pro Shop (15 mins from my house) said that they can have the gun shipped there for pickup. I'll check out Buds. Thanks. Any more online shops of note?

Gunbroker.com is the ebay of the gun world. As far as the process: you just buy the gun, have it shipped to your local FFL dealer and he will release it to you. Note that individuals can only ship handguns overnight and the local dealer usually charges a fee(like twenty bucks) to receive guns so it can be pretty expensive to buy a gun online.

Have you started looking around local pawnshops? The glock 26 is pretty popular, I bet you can find one for a bit less.

Go to Bud's, have it shipped to the cheapest (reputable!) to transfer FFL dealer and you've got a new gun for much cheaper than your local stores!

Yeah the big problem with buying guns online is that sometimes they may be cheeper but you have to factor in the FFL transfer fee and potentially shipping. Sometimes for high demand items like AR15s or pistols you can save a buck but I haven't found a lower price for a Ruger 10/22 or hunting rifles/shotguns then my local Dicks sporting goods

By all accounts, Bud's is going to be a good bet for your purposes.

Gunbroker has a tool that lets you search for FFLs to do a transfer near you. If they don't list the price they'll charge, they'll at least have contact information so you can ask. You'll want to talk with them anyway to find out how they want you to go about setting up the transfer.

As I'm in Canada I can't give you advice on buying a gun. But I can definitely say you've made a great choice with Glock and I will point you here -
