I thought drones (regular drones, at least) were just that...unmanned drones. Wasn't that supposed to be part of the explanation for Gallente using them so much? To minimize loss of life?

I mean, it's not like it matters, but I coulda swore that was, at least when I played, part of even the little Gallente blurbs during character creation.

Drones are machines, although I wouldn't rule out the Amarr ones being servitors. FOR THE EMPEROR!

Best way to adequately reconcile the fact that fighters can warp way out of range of their control ship and chase enemies into warp when normal drones can't was to say that they aren't remotely controlled, they're piloted... just not by capsulers. Fighters and fighter bombers are the size of frigates in-game.

Frigs are that small? Based on what must be the command area on many of them I figured they were quite a bit larger than what I see in those pictures up there.

Consider: The Malleus bomber is 70 meters long on it's long axis.
    62854840-7e69-4f8f-93b7-19a277326cac.jpg

The Amarrian Frigs are (according to the in-game viewer):
    Crucifier - 78 meters
    Executioner - 26 meters
    Inquisitor - 41 meters
    Magnate - 98 meters
    Punisher - 80 meters
    Tormentor - 61 meters
    Amarr Shuttle - 40 meters

Do I think it possible that the frigates have a crew for story purposes? Some of them, yes. Do I think that Kirith at EVE-Tribune overestimates the crews? Oh yeah. I think a lot of the frigs are more like the Moldy Crow (with a cockpit++) rather then the Serenity (a house with engines).

The Executioner for example is JUST a pod with engines. At an overall length of 26 meters that means the central pod is no more then 10 meters, and your player capsule is already about the size of a yugo to begin with. The best metric I've come up with is that if you look at the Heron... the cockpit and hull behind the cockpit is about the same size and general shape as a Star Tours ride...

It says 70 meters, but it is quite clearly not 70 meters. 70 meters is 229.659 feet.

Edit: ITT we talk about inconsistencies of scale.

Edit Edit: Regardless of how bit it actually is, the Amarr Fighter Bomber is dead fucking sexy.

While I agree that it is probably not 70 meters tall (longest axis is unquestionably vertical), and that the numbers from the test server can change, I do think it's at least 30 meters tall based on the visual.

And you don't need to explain distance reckoning to me. I use the yard=meter approximation, which works fine enough for grasping how big something is in relation to a football field.

Yes. The Gallente one isn't bad either. Caldari one kinda reminds me of the Medusa bomber, where the Amarr one definitely takes after the Hercules II and the Myrmidon.

That part wasn't directed at you, just a general statement for those who don't grok metric.

Edit: And I usually do 3 meters to 10 feet. It is a little bit closer.

They honestly are every patch. When you have a spaceship game that is filled mostly with empty space, you can make the effort to have everything really pretty and shiny. Its too bad the UI is so horrible that the majority of players play with most of the screen taken up with various windows and you have to play the game itself windowed so you can watch porn or whatever while you do the necessary boring things that allow those moments of fun.

So I have to say, training Contacts a few levels really gave me quite a boost with agent standings. I went from qualifying for a level 1 quality 9 agent to a level 1 quality 17 agent with just a few minutes training.

You need Criminal Connections instead of Connections if you're running pirate missions in 0.0. But yeah, without at least a few levels in Connections/Criminal Connections the Level 1 -> Level 2 grind is almost impossible.

It's one of the few things you can do completely solo as a newbie in 0.0, so it helps pass the time between ops and pay the bills. Salvaging & scavaging are more lucrative, but don't really work if you're playing at ridiculous times when few people are ratting.

So I guess I'm not alone

Assuming they don't bother fixing risk/reward, I'll probably end up running missions in 0.0 cause the Blood Raider BS is worth a shit ton of ISK and I could grind one up every couple of weeks if I wanted. The cost of losing a few shitty BSs in the process will barely dent the profit from a single bhaalgorn worth over a billion ISK.
