Did it scare the living shit out of anyone else when
They first introduced the yeti/monster things? When it shows you walking along the ledge and the camera pans across and the see just the tip of it's face and it growls, I nearly shit myself.
So what does it mean when some weapons have a merc face icon? Is it just telling you the item was dropped by an enemy?
Also, can the OP be updated to indicate those with and without headsets? I need to play the co-op with sociable people.
If you have a HDTV you can see it's a ninja mask, not a merc face. And if you stealth kill an enemy they drop special ninja loot, which is usually more powerful weapons and extra grenades.
Yeah it's a little ninja dude, and it's a bonus for stealth kills. Grenades from bad guys, for example (they don't normally drop them as something you can pick up).

I'll just throw this out and see if I'm the only one who feels this...
When you get the GAU, and the camera goes right up close behind Drake, it feels like someone stuck a camera on the most badass animatronic action figure ever, put it in an beautifully modelled scale replica of somewhere and started streaming it to the PS3. It doesn't look like a real person but it does look like a real miniature.
Am I the only one? Of course, now I want Drake action figures... "Victor Sullivan, with real moustache action".

Yeah I thought that was frickin' awesome. My little brother happened to be watching as I was replaying that part too, and he thought it was great. It's absolutely impossible to see coming, the first time.

Uncharted 2: The only game with a tutorial that's just as epic as the main game
I did find it a tiny bit irritating they made you do it twice if I'm honest.
They skip a lot the 2nd time and the dialogue your hear during the 2nd time is different and really lets you in on Drake's absolute frustration. I don't think it would have worked without that being there again.

Actually, when I got to that point, I was so happy.
I was like, "Do I want to do this part again?", and then, a few seconds later I went, "Fuck yes, I want to do it again."
It does help that he actually talks during the second run, as well.

Yeah it wasn't a huge gripe more of a, "really? huh" moment.
Lazaravic: "How many people have you killed today alone? What's one more?"
Or maybe it's the "Were you impressed by all those guys I killed?" said to Elena literally minutes after an incident that leaves her emotionally shaken.

Definitely. That was probably the most effective camerawork I've ever seen in a videogame.

The first one isn't anything special. You need more than that to work that argument - see Shadow of the Colossus for starters.
But the second line - well, hey, the ending proper did a lot to make up for how much I hated the last boss.
Christ, they'd better be a couple for Uncharted 3, I swear to God. So tired of everything using the Bond girl approach.

And yet it's nothing films haven't been doing for decades, and it's the sort of thing videogames should have been all over as soon as depth of field was implemented, or even before.
Still very, very well done, though. Hey, I jumped.

So please hunt down whoever squats on recently killed people ala Halo.
It's so immature.
Jesus.
Actually, 90% of the time when this happens it's them picking up your gun that have fallen near you. I thought someone was teabagging me last night, until they ran off with my shotgun and it dawned on me that the ammunition pickup animation looks very teabag like.

Yeah, the only way to crouch is to take cover or pick up weapons..
Oh hey, I didn't know he was doing a character in Alpha protocol. Or ODST for that matter

I wonder what voice he did in Guild Wars Nightfall - I played the shit out of that campaign and don't recall his voice anywhere - the voice work in it all seemed really average.
so this morning i got just past 'trapped' on my drake's fortune / among theives crushing double play
uncharted seems more patient. it trusts its gameplay more than uncharted 2, which is a bit hyperactive and can't sit for more than a segment or two with just straight combat. i also like that there are fewer mid-battle checkpoints - it makes the combat more tense, and you don't get that occasional feeling of blindly stumbling across a checkpoint, dying, and being respawned in a situation you were never in to begin with.
dialogue is a little more stiff than i remembered, but it still has some fantastic scenes and the characterisation is as good as it ever was. the story is still the best-crafted in videogames
So Australia once again has the 'Buy a 40+ inch Bravia and get a free PS3'. I think I've got two of my friends on board with it solely because of how much I rant about this game. This is a game that everyone must experience. Not necessarily play, but experience. I don't know if I can wait for my girlfriend to be around until I play it again...
Also, competitive multiplayer with randoms kinda sucks. I'm looking forward to do some of my first PA gaming with this! I missed the boat with Killzone 2 and just played with/against randoms. I was wrong.
I've been fairly happy playing with randoms in both competitive and coop modes. Except for Elimination, where there's always one cunt that can't help himself. I assume it's a 'well, if I'm not having fun...' thing.
I've had more luck with Multiplayer recently, I'm not as bad as when I started and most people I've played with have been fine. Though I do tend to find on "plunder" a lot of people just run around shooting each other and completely ignore the whole treasure aspect. You also get people who HAVE to capture it themselves and won't throw the damn thing.

Play with people you know. Or at least people you know who's willing to work as a team.
Had my first bout of coop tonight. Did one objective based one but forgot to change the difficulty from the default (easy? really? ugh). Seemed pretty fun, but the randoms didn't speak at all. I then tried arena and it seemed cool but we got dropped from a connection error at the start of the fourth wave, boo.
Not a single one of my old mates has a PS3, and most of them live in the dark ages and don't play games online anyway. I added a whole bunch of PAers tonight and am hoping to catch some of you through next week and play the multiplayer how it was meant to be played!
Does anybody have a list of PSN IDs of PAers that play during Aussie nights? I know there are a few of us out there.
I'm usually rock climbing at that hour
I'm around most nights from around 7pm onwards though, just not always on the PS3. I think I need to start being more active in joining PA groups so that I can know when to jump on!
Did you guys know that if you run in front of Elena in the bit where the bridge is (usually) collapsing and you have to climb up it, it doesn't collapse? Just happened to me now. It's probably a glitch, since I did that entire part completely differently (I backtracked and sniped the snipers from afar) but still, it's pretty neat.
Anyway, I'm at Chapter 23 in my Crushing playthrough. Haven't had much troubles so far, though I've already had Normal and Hard playthroughs to learn a lot of the stealth routes you should take. There's still a couple of fights I think will probably be pretty annoying but I'm guessing they'll be easier than I'm expecting.

Oh I do, trust me. It's just most of the people I play with are from here, and the vast majority of you guys are American so tend to be on at different times to me. Sometimes it's a necessary evil to play with people I don't know. It's still entertaining, it's just I end up shouting "WHAT ARE YOU DOING" in to the microphone a lot.
It's worrying when I frequently come out on top during matches because I'm fairly hopeless at the game
::Edit:: Kiz - you lucky bugger, getting to climb in Australia. I'm limited to the dank and flat Yorkshire moors (hence why I tend to stick to indoor walls)
