Get a TV that doesn't have a piece of paper as it's scaler chip
Pretty much this. I played it on a CRT HDTV, so I didn't have to worry about scaling. It looked nothing like that blurry mess they are trying to pass off as a screenshot. I understand they want to try to sell it, but the game did not look that horrible.

Regardless of scaling, it looks like they're taking those shots using a shitty capture card with a composite cable. The picture looks pretty bad even with component cables (due to the reasons I posted on the previous page), but it's not that bad.
This is the only in-game screenshot I could find in my archive, and it's not really a good comparison, but you can see by examining the pixelated edges that this shot I took with a composite cable on my old crappy capture card is actually slightly less blurred than the example shot above.
I've posted these before, but since we're on the topic of RE4 HD, I figured I'd throw in a few screenshots I took of the modded PC version years ago, might help to give an idea of what the 360 version will look like (assuming they're basing it off the PS2 version). The modding community did a surprisingly good job considering that RE4 was undoubtedly one of the worst ports I have ever seen.
Naturally this is made using fan-made HD textures. It actually looks a lot better in motion, the textures in still shots look too sharp.
Don't ask me why I tweaked the laser pointer green, I just wanted a green laser pointer OK? :P
Wii image that I found somewhere.
I think some of these images were taken before they tried implementing the better lighting, can't remember.
Depth of field was possible as a shader hack, but being a hack it didn't work out 100%. More viable was actually the motion blur, which worked out alright
The also managed to implement shader effects, and those can be used to enhance the image somewhat, or just played around with for some weird and nonsensical effects if you want.
No, which is a contributing factor to the whole "worst port ever" thing.
IIRC there was some kind of mouse hack available but what it basically did was emulate the gamepad. You were just better off in general using a 360 controller.

Oh god. why.
Screen Gems has revealed their decided direction for the 'Resident Evil' film series. Rather than begin production on a sequel to 2010's 'Resident Evil: Afterlife,' they've decided to go backwards -- way backwards.
Taking a cue from 'Batman,' the new film will be called 'Resident Evil: Begins.' As the title suggests, it will be a prequel to 2002's 'Resident Evil,' the film that started it all. Milla Jovovich will once again reprise her role as Alice, but she won't be the superpowered heroine that audiences have become accustomed to since she will have yet to be infected with the source of her power, the T-virus.
Though Jovovich will return for the film, she won't be in the lead this time around. That honor goes to Sienna Guillory, who is reprising her role as Jill Valentine, an original character from the video game series. 'Begins' follows Valentine as she deals with the initial viral outbreak in Raccoon City caused by the Umbrella Corporation.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson directed both the first film, 'Resident Evil' and the most recent, 'Resident Evil: Afterlife,' but there's no word on whether or not he will helm 'Begins.' More precise details are likely to come out shortly as the prequel film is already scheduled for theatrical release on September 14, 2012. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, 'Begins' will be in 3D.

I hope they take a cue from the 'Batman' franchise and make the new movie not suck.

All the movies have been pretty shit, especially the one with the birds and gas station and Claire(not CGI but I heard that was crap too). I'd like the more classic/gothic/mysterious/heavy emotional vibe of Resident Evil, not all-in-black SWAT/military teams stuck in a generic science facility with blue lighting. I liked the second one the best for sure.
I just want some thought provoking emotional exposition between my action scenes
I'm surprised no one posted the operation racoon city trailer. I really disliked it and have no interest in the game, and was curious if other people felt the same...

I'll admit, I kind of liked Afterlife, but I think that's because I saw it in a "4D" theater with 3D picture, moving seats, blowing air and spraying water. That combined with a pretty decent popcorn movie made it enjoyable. The rest of them...for some reason I own at least 1 and 3, but by god were they all horrible. Her powers just kept making the movies more and more bullshit as they went on.
Also, 2 was the worst, and that's saying a lot.

It didn't look like a Resident Evil game at all, looked more like a custom L4D campaign that someone made where they just put a Resident Evil name on it.
hey guys, after seeing this thread pop back up i just thought i would ask:
me and my brother recently bought resident evil 5 for the xbox 360 but everytime we try to play co-op online we get disconnected after a short amount of time. i have tried searching for a solution but dont seem to be getting any answers.
does anyone know anything about this?
we can play other games with no problems over live.
p.s. sorry guys i dont post often and i have no idea how to remove my avatar, so apologies if it is annoying

Yes
Now let us never speak of it ever again, let it fade into obscurity like Survivor
Well, given the trend of all RE movies being horrific train wrecks, I really don't see any reason to believe this one will buck the trend. Hell, they'll only find more ways to screw it all up. Just imagine the casting possibilities! I mean what are they gonna do, get Ellen Page as Rebecca Chambers?!?!
Man, I would love to see Ellen Page as Rebecca. I would also like to add my voice to the common sentiment to see an RE movie that doesn't suck balls. I just up and stopped after the second one.
Whoever said the actress for Jill was terrible is absolutely correct, but damn if she isn't cute. Visually, it was pretty good casting.
Wasn't that the one where they fired a nuclear missile at the town and were like "yea the nuclear plant melted down". It makes as much sense as a town spontaneously turning into cheese and them saying that a gas fire caused it

2 was really horrible. When the only saving grace in a film is Omar 'my shit is custom' Epps, something is very wrong.
I dunno, I have no problem with any of them. I liked the way 3 used some camera angles from the game.
But 3 is my favorite because I love anything Oded Fehr does. I think that's his name. He was the bad guy in Sleeper Cell and ever since I've thought he's awesome.

He was also in 2, I think. He played Carlos and the Egyptian guy in The Mummy 1 & 2.
Of the ones I've seen, I thought they were all terrible before I even played a Resident Evil game. Then I played Resident Evil Remake, RE2, and RE4 and thought they were all even worse. Yeah, a puzzle mansion with zombies wouldn't really have translated well to a movie, but all the RE movies still very much occupy my category of "just bad" rather than "entertainingly bad". Solidly so.
The thought of yet another RE movie makes me very sad.

Resident Evil (the very first) is still the only unique film. It actually had mysteries and surprise elements. The rest are just by the book. I like how they used the source material as inspiration, not a direct adaptation(like George Romero was going to do, reportedly).
Well, not really. It's the PC version modded with high-res textures and Xbox button prompts
But that is shit-hot. If the actual release looks like that I won't even be able to play past the first chapter due to my TV getting busted when I try to have sex with it
EDIT: But I don't know why this backwards-ass person would assign X as the contextual action button instead of A

But hey, more Wesker? I'm okay with that.
Sienna Gullory's a horrible actress though.

They're not even good just as fan wank material, although Anderson hasn't made a good film since Event Horizon, and even that was kinda sketchy.

Worked for X-Men 3 and I knew that was gonna be dogshit going in

That was Mike Epps, not Omar
I would actually like to see Foreman fending off zombies
"I don't remember the guy from House being in that movie..."

The rest were abominations though, isn't the director the lead actress' husband or something? Only reason I can fathom those things were made.
Except the 2nd one.
