So I am enjoying the single player on heroic although I do think health packs are silly now a days no matter what point you are trying to prove. And yes oh yes....firefight is what I have been begging for for a long ass time.
Also just FYI I'm doing an attempt at Endure [strike]tommorow[/strike] later tonight. Tomcat said he wants to join so that's two open slots.
The people that did it already said it took two hours so plan accordingly
I'm totally in. I get on at 8pm (and will be on for most of the day as well). Looks like Beeb got it on Lost Platoon (warthog hijinks?), but I know I've been having a lot of luck with Windward. I got the 200k achievement and one round away from set 4 with three guys on that map. Your call.

Stay in the building and you've got 3 chokepoints in a uterus-esque formation. Rockets and shotgun spawn outside, no wraiths, just a banshee that does fuck all unless you're completely oblivious. Stealth Brutes, fuel rod guns, and Hunters are the Heavy/Specialists.

I bought odst. I have to wait until I have time because shit just got real.
I'm losing my apartment.
My car is not wanting to start after doing some maintenance on it.
So, I'm losing time at the most critical juncture.
There won't be any odst for me until after oct 1st. And that's supposing everything goes smooth.
I did go play some multi-team with wearth. I hope you guys aren't dicks to him because he is a solid halo player.. He loves PA, I don't understand why he doesn't come here.
I've still been trying to do some cross clan relations with RCG (Real Custom Games) because they are neat guys.

ODST is out- But I can work in a round or two of Match Making. I'm also super pissed at verizon fios. They won't let me transfer my account to get the better rate of 80$ a month. Those asshats. I will defeat them yet, By making them give me what I want.

Holy fuck, this is a fun game. Did a solo Legendary run today and it was easily the most fun I've had in a Halo game since the first one. Chalk it up to the player mechanics being closer to the first game than to 3, I guess.
Still working on the campaign (sorry for ignoring the invites, Sheep) and it's still awesome. I'm finding myself paying so much more attention to weapon loadouts and capabilities. Was quite badly pinned down by a wraith at one point, before remembering that a plasma pistol can knock it out. Still left the turret, but I managed to distract him with enough carbine rounds to let me get close and jam a grenade in its arse.
Yeah, I've been having trouble with it saving my progress as well. So far, I can't seem to resume my game, just have to start the mission over.

I've also had some weird graphical bugs. Me and the lil lady were playing FireFight last night when the display got all fucked up. Scared shitless I was bout to Red Ring or something.
I noticed there was a problem in the saving when I finished the campaign, went and hit "resume" and loaded a checkpoint from about four hours earlier.
I literally played through on Heroic in two four hour sittings; and the game decided to tell me this by spawning me with three missions checked off in front of an SI supply cache.
Confused the shit out of me.

Yeah, Rat, Pancake, Muffin, and I decided to try out Lost Platoon to see how different Firefight is with vehicles.
2 hours and 13 minutes later, bleep bloop. Heh, totally unplanned. We were all starving afterwards.
Some advice on it, aside from girding your loins for at least two hours:
kill Choppers immediately. The hog turret is crap against them, so try to plasma pistol them and steal it, it's very useful with killing other Choppers. And have someone on laser duty to take out the wraiths. Rat was our laser guy, he mostly stood on the top of the structure at the start of each wave to destroy them quickly before getting back in a Chopper. Also, in the latter rounds, kill Jackals quickly, they get really good at the plasma pistol overcharge, which will screw up the Hog.
All in all, it wasn't that difficult. We easily had around 25 lives for the most part.
I'll be down for trying to get Deja Vu later today; with any luck, I can has Recon today or tomorrow.

So I'm playing through this on Legendary. (Up to Dutch's mission)
I seem to be running for my life a lot, especially as the Rookie.
When Butch runs into the two Hunters I spent a good while dying over and over trying to figure out how to kill them. I'd manage to kill one but the other would always kill me. Eventually I just said screw it and ran past them, dodging their fire. It worked. Right after that part when you switch back to the Rookie and run into about four brutes with the floating thing I ended up just running away from them. Interestingly they didn't follow.
I guess they don't care about one puny human. It's kind of a nice change from playing as Master Chief. It reminds you that you're just one normal guy.

Is there any sort of way to organize XBL friends? It's pretty easy for me to tell who is PA and who isn't, because I basically only have PA and people I know, but it'd be nice to be able to set people apart to play with.
Jesus, this game is a huge improvement over Halo3 compared to Halo 3.
I'm actually really enjoying this.
With Halo 3 everything felt like a chore just to get through the game.
With the deeper character interaction on this game, I'm actually interested in what's going on, and excited to see what happens next.

Checkpoint systems without a dynamic save spot/Irreversible action are complete and utter garbage. That's also part of the reason I'm waiting for ODST, so they can patch that shit but- I hear you.
Finally got around to trying Firefight mode, though only solo. Made it to the second "wave" of five individual challenges, I guess that's good?
Man, I wish there was a matchmaking option for it, but I guess you'll just have to rely on your friends list. I've been spoiled by the convenience of matchmaking in Halo 2 and Halo 3.
Even if you're just looking for someone to be the bait, please, send me invites.

Fyi- Easy way to add people is to go to Xbox.com -> Log in -> Click on your name in green(Right next to your icon) -> Then friends -> Then cut and paste their name into the add a friend box.
Make sure to add a message stating you are from Pennies arcades, and that agree to the terms of service which is "Don't be a dick"

As they say, okie-dokie. I've cleared most of the campaign (I think I have all but two of the Firefight stages), but I'm going to try and stretch it out there.
Really, I hate the notion of rushing through the game. I don't know if the game is particularly short, but even then, I feel I should savor it. I could probably knock it out on normal today though...
so what's the deal with the LIVE update? I got the prompt when I turned on my xbox, got the update, now I can't connect to LIVE?
It's a prep update, and there's a message that they know people can't connect. Usually when this happens it's just easier to go to sleep.
That's good thinking on Microsoft's part. You know, doing things like releasing disruptive updates on the first full day of their biggest in-house release of the year.

When you're ready to quit, make sure you have hit a checkpoint (it will tell you) and select Save & Quit.
Leaving to play Firefight through an invite will NOT save and then go. Be careful with your gameplay, guys.

I just had a good run with Viscount, apparently, the trick on 'Lost Platoon' is to whore the choppers like you wouldn't believe.
Also, there's a Spartan laser in the garage armory. I wish I had known that two rounds earlier, but in any case, we almost cleared all three rounds.
