What is the draw of lost platoon, the vehicles? The only one I actually like so far is Oni Site Alpha.
It's probably one of the easier firefight maps. Large open area to break enemies up in, nice hiding spots, enemies who funnel into easy to control areas, and most importantly easily one of the best defensive structures practically right off the bat all make fighting on LP a bit easier than on other maps.
Personally I just love the Warthog, power sliding into grunts and brutes never gets old for me.

One's dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but cannot be taken away unless it is surrendered.
Anyone notice how some things (mattresses and the copy machines in Highrise) are totally impenetrable? A steel wall, yeah that makes sense, but bullets should obliterate copy machines.
I don't know about you, but I always buy a bullet proof printer. Its a lot more expensive, but I think the advantages are apparent.
I haven't gotten my copy of ODST yet, and I went on an almost total blackout for this game. But I'm really curious if the game gives a legitimate reason why the enemies are all Brutes and not Elites (I seem to remember Bungie saying Elites would not be enemies). I only saw the first trailer and I just kinda assumed Bungie had put a lot of work into the Brute characters and the pack mentality stuff, so they just kind of swept the Elites under the rug.
They've given a legitimate reason for like two games now.
So I just realized. Both Crater and Crater(Night) share the same 200,000 point achievement?
yeah, just like you can get the rally point achievement on day/night
also apparently the song Rain is called Deference to Darkness on the soundtrack. Why call it one name until release then switch it? also holy hell itunes overcharges for the soundtrack. Why the hell would you double the price?
I remember back when the hard drive install feature came out and Bungie basically said "Don't install Halo 3! It runs better off the disc drive!"
So now I look on the back of the ODST box and it says "Optimized for hard drive", so now installing is the way to go?
Also, the multiplayer game disc...just treat it as Halo 3 and don't install it?
I though games running better on the hard drive was a myth. I don't notice a difference in Left 4 Dead. But I guess it says it on the box...I'll have to experiment.

98% of them do except for Halo 3. Halo 3 was programmed to automatically 'install' it's content to the HDD cache when you play it.
So when it got installed, it doesn't know that it's on the HDD and copies the map files from the hard drive, to the hard drive. Essentially, Halo 3 got slowed down because it was too optimized for the HDD.
I imagine MS has some flags that games can check for now to see if they are installed, so ODST doesn't get slowed down from an install anymore. They said in theory they could 'fix' Halo 3 but it's too much work that Microsoft probably isn't going to pay for.
I hate how they are going back into the past, but not having read the books I guess it will be mostly new information. Was there anything even worth knowing in the Halo Wars story?
ODST's story is what I wanted Halo 2 to be about, which was saving fucking earth. In Halo 2 you warp to the second Halo, and I was like "Goddammit."
I'm not too thrilled about a new game about reach.
I share the same sentiment. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it will be an excellent game, but I'd like the story to progress into the future.
into what? Earth is safe, the Covenant is history, the Flood dead and all the halos unuseable. Unless you want a game about Elites beating up Brutes there's not much to do.
Plus you know Reach is a pretty cool setting for a game and if this is Bungie's last halo game they're gonna do what they want

Well sure, that storyline is wrapped up, but you know there is more potential in the Halo universe. And besides, I myself would love a game where I could be an Elite and beat up Brutes.
The Wars story added to the universe but is mostly self contained (someone could just play Wars without having played 1/2/3 and still 'get it'). Bungie has a pretty good framework going on. I enjoyed it.
And yeah, there was nothing left after Halo 3.

Let's turn the Halo universe into an Alien Flavor of the Year series. Every year they release a new game and there's a new alien race that appears for no apparent reason. Ten games later and the Covenant are back except this time they're all female and humanoid!
You'll be able to date either a female ODST or a female Elite.

The Chief is drifting towards a creepy glowing planet thingy called Onyx.

...that's full of the doc and 2nd gen Spartans. I really wish they would either wrap this up in a game or let Nyland do it in a book, it's obnoxious as fuck.
Anyway, finished running through it solo on Legendary last night.
So happy I gave Buck a rocket launcher and Dare a fuel rod gun
. Aside from the ending, I probably enjoyed the story to this one more than any other game in the series :^:
Halsey and co. aren't on Onyx, they're in the slipspace shield-world thing that was in the centre of Onyx. We have no idea where that is, but the portal closed, meaning if the Chief's floating towards Onyx then none of them are going to be there. Quite frankly I doubt it's Onyx he's headed towards anyways, but although all the theories I can come up with are equally plausible, none of them are more plausible. It's a pain in the ass to be sure, as I'd really like to play as a S-III. I think it'd be a lot like playing as an ODST.

Wait, what's wrong with the Elites returning to their homeworld to find something similar to the shit we just did in New Mombasa? The elites even say this at the end of Halo 3. Something like "I'd like to see our homeworld, to see if it's safe."
I mean, I don't have any problem at all with reach, but there is certainly something in the future to work with. So High Charity was destroyed, so what, ever seen star wars? Just because the biggest fucking space station you've ever seen got wiped up, doesn't mean that all the "smaller" ones went with it.

I wanted Earth and the remaining Covies to find and colonize the remaining Halos together. But I'm very glad the Elites and humans became freinds in the end. It's too bad the other races didn't follow suit like in Halo 2.

Yeah, the shield planet is what I meant when I said Onyx - I think that's what the MC was floating towards at the end of Halo 3.
I think an S-III would kind of suck though; wouldn't it be the same as setting ODST on easy and giving you a cloaking device?

Or just rolling back the clock similar to the new Star Wars MMO where you have a bunch of Spartans/ODSTs running around and tearing stuff up. If Bungie could drop a a title similar to ODST that ran through a different campaign in the war (ie Harvest) every 18 months or so I would be a happy man.
Urishizu, Frendy, and Allforce - good games last night. I wasn't expected to walk away with two 200k achievements (Last Exit and Chasm Ten).
Chasm Ten really is a lot of fun. The upper level turrets + gravlifts = vertical meat grinder.
I'll be on tonight with Fractal and Carrots if you want to play again. We're finishing the Legendary campaign then doing some FF.
Thanks! But... Sadly, the wife is commandeering the TV this evening for football. Guess that means I'll be playing Monster Hunter on the PuhSPuh. 8-)
Even worse is that it's Sunday night and I have a bitch of a week coming up for me at work so I probably won't be on ODST much until next weekend. I'll probably be soliciting folks for some Legendary campaign co-op action...
Sign me up. I am most certainly not man enough to play on Legendary by myself, but I serve as a good spawn point in coop!
If anyone else has the curse of being connected to the Intertubes via BT in the UK and was wondering why their NAT setting suddenly switched over to strict in Halo I have an answer.
The last xbox update messed things up a bit but solution simply resetting the Homehub will sort it out (apparently).
Really? Cool, take notes Major.
It doesn't seem to have helped me, but that may be because we have the full system, including BT Vision box etc. Well, hey, at least we're upgrading in a few months. And sure, I'l try the reboot a couple more times tomorrow...
People were saying that they thought this appeared as an easter egg if you played it on Legendary, but I have only played the game on Legendary, and saw no such thing!

But if you looks closely in some dark alleys in ODST, there are dead Elites strewn about at random.
