MikeMan I think has gotten meaner about it. and I say this as a RL friend of his now. I think he'd agree tbh, and as I agree wtih him I have to say I KINDA get where he is coming from, but our attitude here definitely isn't welcoming and for that I'm sorry.

Repairing my car to pass it's MOT is going to cost at least £810

That reminds me I still haven't arranged for the stuff my garage wanted to do after the full service last month.
Various bits and pieces that will apparently fail an MOT. I always get the feeling I'm being gouged no matter where I take it.
My Dad said I can have his old car though and he'll use mine to get two grand off something new using that government scheme to lower car emissions. So it's not the end of the world.
I just told them to do the bare minimum, i.e. replace the fuel filter so my car no longer leaks petrol.

No, it it's hard finding a good one. I got really lucky in the mechanics department.

Yeah, it seems unless you have a blood relative in these trades, then they will fuck you silly.

My index and middle fingers routinely have something happen to them which causes cuts. In the last week or so these somethings have got more severe as now they bleed. So I'll occasionally sit down and find little pools of blood gathering beneath my fingers.
This coupled with a lack of skin from climbing has given me monster hands.

The missus refuses to watch those 'Nightmare Plumbers' programmes on telly as it puts the fear of god into her. From the guys who show up and deliberately knacker your stuff so they can charge the earth for repairing it to the plain incompetant ones who are as much use in fixing your boiler as a drunk triceratops, all make her shudder in fear at the prospect of needing one of these clowns without a recommendation.
