t people who don't like radiohead because they listened to creep and it was too whiny
yeah there would be no good reason to like radiohead based on their first album because it is, in fact far too whiny
they didn't really figure out how to make good music until the bends, and they started making really fantastically good music with ok computer
OKC is also the most accessible of their three best albums (OKC, kid a, and amnesiac, all of which are basically incredible)
so that's the album I would start off with. it doesn't showcase them at their weirdest, though, so you might want to try kid a or amnesiac if you're into that
If we're going to convert this to an indiefag thread sooner or later, can I just tell everyone here how good this iTunes Genius playlist for While You Wait For the Others is?
Because the first few songs after While You Wait For the Others are:
Coast of Carolina - Telekinesis
Lisztomania - Phoenix
Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse - of Montreal
Idiot Heart - Sunset Rubdown
The Rake's Song - The Decemberists
Ghost Under Rocks - Ra Ra Riot
Jacksonville - Sufjan Stevens
My Body is a Cage - Arcade Fire
I had such a crush on this song for years and years. Still do, really. And I was dubious about seeing Radiohead live again last year at Lolla, but they were even better than all of the other times I've seen them.
Thom Yorke does some strange things to a microphone, though.
Lost Salient on
"Sandra has a good solid anti-murderer vibe. My skin felt very secure and sufficiently attached to my body when I met her. Also my organs." HAIL SATAN
Keasbey Nights is literally the best third wave album
Either version (the original by Catch 22, and the rerecording that their first singer/guitarist did after he started Streetlight Manifesto, only difference is the production quality and some bits are arranged different)
The words "jazz-influenced skacore" should mean "this sounds like some awful shit don't listen to this"
Instead it means "Alright these dudes are gonna play some awesome punk-sounding music that happens to have horns and this guy is gonna yell over it and then out of nowhere you get a fucking jazz piece and it is so good"

they sound like butts you see

and said songs have bitchin' guitar solos
no dice
said songs do occasionally have bitchin guitar solos
holy shit
http://www.dobi.nu/yourscenesucks/crabcore/index.htm
I highly doubt depressed dudes can play bitchin' guitar solos
not gonna listen
Thom Yorke, depressed falsettoed British dude extraordinaire, is not the guitar player for Radiohead
see there is more than one dude in radiohead
and they are all depressed

System, not so much.
I'm more partial to 2step, though that's pretty cool.

There were so many bands that were better than them
Hell
The last Catch 22 album was better and that was some awful concept album about Trotsky
e: That said I guess the Five Iron DVD is finally coming out
Not so much now.
They're better than Catch 22 though.
How many lead singers do you know that run their own merch booths at concerts?
I
You
Keasbey fucking Nights
That is the end all be all of third wave, you can't top it, don't pass go don't collect 200 dollars
Unless you're talking about Catch post-Keasbey and then you're still wrong
Jeff Rosenstock of Bomb The Music Industry
The guys from Fatter Than Albert run their merch booth, and not only are they in the band but they run their own label too
I got out of ska without giving them a really fair shake.
I'll give them a listen.
Keasbey Nights is literally the best third wave album
Either version (the original by Catch 22, and the rerecording that their first singer/guitarist did after he started Streetlight Manifesto, only difference is the production quality and some bits are arranged different)
Much like 90% of every other genre
The other 10% is radtimes though because that 10% contains Fatter Than Albert (jazz-influenced skacore say what) and Keasbey Nights and Hello Rockview
And early DHC and Destruction By Definition and Suburban Rhythm
The words "jazz-influenced skacore" should mean "this sounds like some awful shit don't listen to this"
Instead it means "Alright these dudes are gonna play some awesome punk-sounding music that happens to have horns and this guy is gonna yell over it and then out of nowhere you get a fucking jazz piece and it is so good"
I watched this last night.
SteamID: Baroque And Roll
i enjoy the specials
Maybe progress to The Toasters
And then Keasbey Nights that album I just ffffffff

Also one band you aren't allowed to say bad things about: Operation Ivy
Motherfucks best be respecting the Op Ivy in here
Indirectly anyway
Op Ivy was pretty much the first ska-punk band
Not the first third wave band but the first to really play punk music with ska elements
