Obama and socialist spending!

Guys I am having a problem finding something that isn't blatant lies or some crazy blogger yelling about Obama when I am trying to answer this question.

How much has the Obama administration spent up to this point, and what was their projected budget for this year?

I just want the numbers and no commentary.

I would look at the White House Office of Management and Budget or the Congressional Budget Office

This is probably the most bipartisan quickie breakdown I've seen of the current US deficit:

Of course, it's somebody else's graph so you should consider the source.

Wasn't part of the whole recovery roll-out a website where "every American can see exactly where each dollar is being spent?"

    http://www.recovery.gov/

Seems like it has quite a bit of detail and links to reports on spending.

Part of this is the fact that the Obama administration started using more honest accounting methods in counting the deficit. Which makes it look bigger on paper, even though if the same methods had been used in years past, those years would look way worse.

Yeah, I've heard that there were as many as three different books under the Bush administration (and possibly previous administrations) so that the $5-6 Trillion figure we all knew and loved ended up only being part of the story.

    This is really the key.

In years past, the defense budget was voted upon separately. When the right talks about "record spending" they're really talking about their wars and their kickbacks to the defense industry.

    That's only stimulus money.
