    This guest artist has probably done the best job of mimicing PA's "style", but the whole thing feels a little derivative.

    Unfortunately, it's not the one you need to win the level, but some other, less-reputable starite.

    Just tried - it creates a Starite, but grabbing it doesn't win the level or anything. It's just another object to interact with.

    When you type Starite into the game the game creates a Starite but it is not the correct Starite for winning the game it is just a Starite that is useless

    I really wanted to like scribblenauts, but the game got in the way of the fantastic concept. Plus the longer you play the more you realize how everything is categorized. The new Mario and Luigi however is fantastic, and so far pretty funny.

    Oh yeah, G&T are back, hooray.

    In the puzzle game Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS, you type in names of items that appear on screen and help you complete levels. Among the tens of thousands of possibilities is one that's more than a little unnerving: type in the antiquated racial slur "sambo" and up pops a watermelon, another racist Vaudevillian symbol.

    Joystiq spoke to Jeremiah Slaczka, creative director of 5th Cell, which developed the game:

    Slaczka explained to Joystiq that "sambo" is used in the game as an alternate term for "fig leaf gourd," an ingredient in the Ecuadorian dish fanesca. "Sambo" is the local term for the gourd. As for the watermelon-like appearance? "We reuse art," he said. "Fig leaf gourd looks a lot like a watermelon. It's just an alternative name in a giant list of tens of thousands of names."

    Hey guys. I was thinking of picking up scribblenauts but I have a really big question. I've searched far and wide on the internet and have found no answer.

    Ok so if I'm getting this straight.

    If you happen to type starite in the game like in this comic a starite will appear next to you

    The rub, however, is that it is not a real starite and this can't complete the level

    Is this right?
