What did Tycho mean when he said the games had "a pedigree element, which makes me sad."

What is a pedigree element, and why would it make him sad?

    He meant that it's a sequel. It's not a new IP.

    You'll note the caveats afterward. Pedigree means that I have affection for the developer itself, or a previous product. Multi means that playing the game in multiplayer mode is a primary reason for purchase. Bet means that I want to like it, and that overrides elements that might be a concern for rational people.

    Thanks, I really hate it when I don't get a reference. I'm old enough to remember what L7 was, which I've spent far too much of my life trying to avoid. So, I'm still trying hard to keep up despite my advancing age and decrepitude.
