am i the only one who thinks this season is kind of weak so far compared to the others?

like, it's good, but i wish they'd get back to ted and the mother's story.

According to NPH and Alyson hannigan's twitters: 100th episode = musical

The only problem I can foresee with a musical episode is that Alyson Hannigan can't sing. Well, unless you consider a cat being strangled a kind of musical excellence.

You need to focus on how cute /hot/ man I'm feeling guilty about what I'm doing but god she's attractive" she is and not listen to her voice.

So what you're saying is that if I'm masturbating while watching my favorite sitcom since Cheers, it will help me overlook Lily's poor vocals?

Well if you want to be blunt about it.

They don't really touch on that subject in most of the seasons. Season 4 barely mentions it. The premiere when Ted says how he should have dealt with Robin not being invited to the wedding and then the finale when he says all the crappy stuff that happened was neccessary for him to meet the mother.

Most of the "mother's story" in past seasons involves a single line in a otherwise unrelated episode saying something to the effect of "but it was a good thing that happened, because otherwise, I wouldn't have met your mother" or "as I found out later, that yellow umbrella belonged to your mother" (This season, it's "as I found out later, your mother was in this wrong class"). The "mother's story" through the entire history of the show up to this point could be written on a Post-It note. Hell, Ted spent the entirety of Season 2 in a relationship with a woman we already knew wasn't the mother.

HIMYM is, as it's always been, a show about 5 friends living in New York. The "mother" has always been a MacGuffin.

I'm divided on this issue. I think it has the potential to be one of the more enjoyable relationships on the show, given that (as we've already seen) those two are impossibly bad at being together with anyone.

On the other hand, when Barney's with someone, he's not that good old Barney we know and love.

I loved how stretched out the final bit was:
You just knew that it was going to get back to Marshall, and the wait as they cycled through every character and played the same music cue was fantastic.

Which, given that (in my opinion) the episode was pretty funny, is saying something.

I particularly enjoyed the aforementioned still in love with Robin thing, as well as the increasingly diabolical tone of NPH's voice as he become more and more confident that Ted and Robin won't be able to agree on a slapper by sundown.

This was a good episode. I hope that the last slap comes out of nowhere as a big surprise, but seeing how popular the slaps are and how much they've built this one up I don't see it happening with Slap 5: The Last Slap Is The Slappiest.

My money's still on that being in the finale.

But as a bit of a surprise.

"And that's how I met your mother"
And then out of nowhere Marshall like, drives by with his hand out the window to deliver a car-powered slap to NPH
    "THAT'S FIVE"

    credits

Woah, she's pregnant again? Is she like old-school Catholic or something?

You'd think being on TV, you'd want to wait until your show was off the air to progenize (I know that's not a word) so you can actually be there for your kids. I know there's a recent interview with Lisa Edelstein from House and she says that for Hugh Laurie it's basically 16 hours a day every day. Maybe it's not as bad with a half hour show, but still.

It's strange that you'd say she was looking hot. This whole episode I was thinkig how her clothes are terrible. There was an old episode* on my TiVo suggestions which I watched right after and I was struck by how much nicer Robin looked then. I think they changed something with her makeup. And the clothes in that old episode were definitely less fashion-y.

*Okay Awesome from Season 1. Extra-loud dance club and Marshallilly trying to be mature with wine parties.

New episode tonight. It was pretty good, not the best but had some great moments (such as Barney's description of when he smokes, and before that, the simulation of when bars allowed people to smoke). Looking forward to the 100th episode.
