While the delay does make me :?, I wasn't planning on getting it until it dropped below $30, to spite their ridiculous price hike. And to be honest, I really am having trouble caring about MW2 coming out.
Maybe some people have already discussed this, but I just noticed the PC price is 60 USD. I wonder if this will become the norm for PC games from now on. They'll be as expensive as their console counterparts.
Are the majority of us still getting this on the PC, though? I've got a gift card here and I intend to use it!

The Javelin as it's depicted in CoD4 isn't accurate either where after launch it shoots off 90 degree into the air like a cruise missile (this was among one of the gripes made by IW's military adviser, Hank Keirsey in this interview at 3:05). I can fully understand the liberties taken with regards to gameplay on the depiction of the Javelin but having the AT-4 doing something completely inaccurate is just lazy considering they've already had a model in place in CoD4.
What makes this doubly annoying is that the AT-4 they have in MOD2 is the same one that's in 4. You'd figure if you were going to recycle assets you'd recycle the right one.

Humm... I've seen you tube vids of Jevelins shooting 90 degrees into the air, I'm sure of it. If I wasn't at work I'd try to find some vids. The point of them shooting at that angle is so they can come straight down onto the top of a tank, which is usually it's weakest point of its armor. But yeah, the AT4 heat seaker is stupid, I don't know why they didn't go with the stinger.
So $40 for MW2 and spend that extra dough on chips and soda.
The wait sure sucks though.
Oh man, 20 bucks less. I may as well get that version, the 2 week delay won't be a big deal with Uncharted 2 to busy me and I can apply the savings to L4D2 to take the sting out of the "wait, is this a full-priced expansion?" there.

+1 to the AT-4 issue. I hadn't realized it when I first watched the AC-130 video, but going back and looking at it, it's glaringly obvious that it's a "super" AT-4. Surprising, since I thought IW was usually on the ball about these sorts of things.
Still - I think I can ignore this for the sake of gameplay.
It's not a dealbreaker, but it's annoying considering they know better and when an answer was finally received for why it was wrong, it was "It's okay guys, it's balanced".
The next IW FPS should be based in the Starcraft universe.
Fixed, also more plausible.
Shit, fanboys would by it on the concept alone.
I know I probably would.
Nuclear launch detected.
I'm pretty sure the next one will be called CoD7: Future Warfare.
It'll be mechs and guided bullets and all that silly stuff. Basically Killzone 2.
Except Killzone 2 didnt have mechs or guided bullets, but whatev's.
Next COD needs to have a significant Vietnam section. Vietcong on PC was pretty decent for its day and it had the sweet ability to call in airstrikes before it was cool (Or maybe RTCW had it first, it was close). The rumor is that Treyarch is doing coldwar so that might be good as they somewhat redeemed them selves with [email protected]'s single player sections.

You think you can ignore it? Look, I'm all for realism as a way to add to the experience, but my favourite FPS game ever made had a mode called Monkey Assist, where the losing player had ten minigun wielding simian badasses to help him get back in the game.
Gameplay comes so far ahead of realism that you can't even see realism anymore. If you ever have to sacrifice gameplay for realism, you fail at game design.
Yeah all that matters in the end is that this thing shoots a fucking rocket that will blow up your target. Its a rocket launcher. You use it to blow shit up.

"welcome to the army, soldier. here's your gun. now stand here and don't do jack shit for thirty years."

Yeah I know, I know.
I should have said "cold war era" . There were quite a few conflicts goin' on around the world at that time.

The majority of us were, and will be, getting this for 360. All I remember from the 15 CoD4 threads we went through was every once in a blue moon someone would come into the thread ask about PC players then listen to the crickets chirp.

More specifically, the rumor seems to be pointing out a handful of theaters: Vietnam is the largest assumption, but then there's the music call that had Soviet, Cuban, and African music. So Angola, maybe. Or South Africa. I think it could be interesting enough.

I don't think a weapon model affects gameplay, just the appearance of the weapon. Just switch the AT-4 with a Stinger. Bam, problem solved.
Another PC player here most likely, I just prefer the keyboard and mouse interface.
The trailer was intense. It looks like Infinity Ward aren't pulling any punches this time, they are throwing the whole world into conflict.
I'm thinking this will be an interesting change of pace after the first game had you pulling off absolute heroics in a hotspot far far away, then explaining it to the rest of the world as a simple news bulletin soon to be overlooked. Saying the conflict has escalated in MW2 seems like an understatement.
I am so excited for this all six of my nipples are tingling!.
On a side not Im looking forward to both the MP and the SP campaign, I always wanted ModernWarfare to have a coop aspect and now it does so that increase my MW2boner massivly.
Does anyone know if the coop is going to be split screen?

It's not a co-op campaign, just shorter co-op missions.

Fuck you. Activisoin needs to make Battlezone 3. Or make a Starcraft Action RTS.

badass.
Thanks. I was wondering what the fuck everyone was talking about as far as it not shooting straight up.

We need them to make a spin off in the Star Wars universe. Swap the knife out for a lightsaber and a kill streak of 11 gets you planatery bombardment.
Oh and maybe a 5 killstreak gets you rabid Ewoks!
New 15 Kill streak = call in Death Star.

I disagree with this SO much it isn't even funny. And my roommate argues it'd be better with a server browser too, but I still disagree with it.

If I had a post closer to the OP I would start up a list of players for the PC version.
Critical Failures - Havenhold Campaign • August St. Cloud (Human Ranger)
We should make a Steam community group.
Does anyone know if Steam is going to release this day one?
Count me in for the PC crowd either way, I'd rather just get it on Steam.
