Legal Name Change!

So, I want to legally change my first name. For the longest time before I was born I was supposed to be 1 name, and then like 5 minutes before birth my mom put something else on the birth certificate. She had no idea why she did, and regretted it afterwards, wishin she hadn't changed it :)

Anyway, I just had my 21st birthday, so we were all talking and had been talking about changing the name back for a couple of years, and decided this year for my 21st, why not change it.

What all do I have to do to get a legal name change here in Alabama? I've tried googling but I see all kinds of different respones. Some saying just call the DMV, some saying you have to fill out an ungodly amount of forms, some wanting $10, $30, $80.

I'm confused by the whole matter and was hoping someone could clear it up for me

Just felt like sharing, I'd just call up the DMV or a local courthouse and ask from there.

I would think that your search will start at the local federal building. If you're in a small town, it'll be in the same place as the county courthouse. In fact, it might even be the courthouse.

Also, change your middle name to "Fucking" while you're at it. ;)

you'll probably also want to contact the social security offices as well as the IRS to notify them of the change.
