It looks like making a character before release is good for a +1 ring (all stats): http://blog.bioware.com/
I found this slightly frustrating since, apparently the ring is available to Xbox owners who use the Character Creator on their PC as well...buuut I'm going to be playing the Xbox 360 version out of a literal inability to use even the Character Generator.
So no ring for me
It's a single player RPG.
Just like Dawn of War 2, all these pre-order specific items will be unlocked for everyone with a day zero fan mod. Heck, I'm betting you can do it manually through the console no problem.
What you want to consider with pre-orders is actual content. Like warden's keep.
Oh I read it. It's just that I have put up a mental block on the notion of dragon age on consoles. it's like a dark haze descended over your post and omitted choice details.

That is probably going to get outclassed during or soon after the origins story.
I was checking those learnable abilities/techs/whatevers and highest I ever saw needed 36 dexterity and lvl 12 to learn.
Now my created dex-rogue had 20 dex at beginning so that +1 doesn't carry far.
These non-dnd values on dnd-like stats are bit deceptive at first
EDIT: bioware:origins name: Adhuin. I just send membership application for PA-group as I finally got that community account work with my old forum name there.
You get 3 attribute points per level up, so a +1 to all stats is almost a free +2 levels. That's pretty good particularly for the early game. By the time you get to level 15+ it's no big deal
That Grimoire is a lot more ridiculous, +3 to all stats is like 6 free level ups. Starting the game with that kind of advantage will be really unbalancing, maybe useful for the nightmare difficulty though, as I hear that one is extremely difficult.
My character finally got uploaded to the Social Network site. I should probably change his name, though. He's Darrian right now, which was the default name. I kind of liked it and never bothered to change it. I suppose I should. But for now, it will do.
I'm just a little disappointed he starts off with dual weapons instead of a sword and shield.
Maybe it's the angle looking up, but he looks so smug

The Grimoire isn't +3 to all stats, it's a one time use item that gives you 3 total stat points to spend on whatever attributes you want. So it's equivalent to one level worth of stat points.

Are you sure? I'm looking at the image of the collector's edition I have posted on the OP and it says +3 to all attributes when read.

Man, now I really don't know what I want to do. I am thinking a Dwarf Noble. Games like this really push the "MC as Melee Tank" angle, usually. But... mage...
Was it ever confirmed that Elven Mages will get a double heaping of bigotry?
While I don't mind the lack of creation options in terms of gameplay (knowing I can customize as I level and play), I wish I'd gotten more to play with for now... I was super excited to download the character creator, but I can only give myself a funny looking nose for so long before I get bored.

Still can't get the stupid account thing to make my stupid account.
Did you try linking your ea account on the forum settings?
Where are the forum settings for? The Bioware forums?
Yeah, the dragon age official forums (or really, any of the other ones run by bioware). Go to the options and there should be a setting to link to your ea account

Ok, last one for today. I like how easy it is to make some decently looking women

Like unique bigotry? Or the bigotry that other elf pcs get and the bigotry mage pcs get combined?
The combined bit. Will I have to avoid anti-elf bigots and mageophobes alike?
I don't see why you wouldn't. Obviously it won't be part of your origin ala the City Elf. But I would think if youre an elf you are tagged, and that there are probably a few unique mean one liners for Elf mages.
Those are some dangerous looking faces. They are going to poke someones eye out.

You're right. They must have recently changed it. I'll have to go update the OP now. Ah well, that's still a nice bonus.

Upgrade your video card driver, that fixed my problems - I had the exact techno noise going on also.

No, I think it has something to do with the angle and the face the character's making. I haven't been able to stab anyone with my cheekbones... yet.
