Now I don't know what bizzaro land they're living in, but last I checked 13 is greater than 5. I tried to buy STALKER on the store with my paypal account, and I had 13 bucks in there, and when I went to go buy that Stalker game, said I didn't have enough funds. That was retarded. It wanted me to add a credit/debit card.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I heard something about needing the before sale price in your pay pal.
Seems The Witcher is 50% off now, and going to be available worldwide too.
Awesome game, but at least for US people, you can get the boxed version for $15 at newegg
That's random. The enhanced edition update is free right, if you have the base game? So you can pay the $15 and get the enhanced/directors cut; just not on the disk?

Yeah, you can download all the stuff in the EE/DC versions once you register your key. Once it's patched up, they're identical.
I have the system tray icon hidden
If you want to open the default instance of steam, and you already ahve a Steam window open (say chatting with a friend), just middle click that in the taskbar.

That.
I just opt'd into the jumplist client beta, but prior to that I had the steam system tray icon hidden and if I wanted to access the games list I'd middle-click the steam icon on my superbar. I think the one thing I'd like to have on the jump list is a bit better control of what appears on it. Having the recently played list is nice, but it'd be good if there was a way to go in through the games menu and just pick which ones ought to be pinned on the jump lists without having to boot each game up.
Now if only the Steam window played nice with Win 7 snap resizing...

I've always disliked how Steam is "windows standards? lol fuck you".
It wasn't super bad under XP because XP was hideously ugly and Steam was an oasis by comparison, but now that we've got Aero it looks completely dated.
There needs to be a new rung of hell for programmers that ignore the windows gui guidelines.
Yes, but none of them work with Aero, and most of them look horrible anyway. Many of them - with their weirdly-clashing solid colors and font choices - tend to resemble Win9x-style 'themes'.
I actually like how default Steam contrasts with my Vista desktop so much. It's starkness has become pretty appealing what with how everything is now shiny.

That'd make sense then.

Gah, please Steam, I implore you to stop with the sales, just for a little while!
Edit: Actually it's not just Steam i think i got hit with a GoGamer 48 hour > D2D 5$ Craziness > Steam Hitman combo pack > another Gogamer 48 hour thing > Steam Witcher/Stalker. And the Oddworld sale in there somewhere.
So how stable is Stalker these days anyway? Don't you need a fuckton of unofficial patches?
Repeat'd because everyone's talking about it and I would like to know. I remember a LP or something where some guy had about 4 mods running to make the game playable and enjoyable.
works fine. I tried that Float32 one and it made all the shadows and everything way screwy. Game looks fine anyway. And now I can try playing without getting motion sickness.
I'm going to pick up two gigs of RAM and a new video card and I'll be doing ok. The hardest part is calling around asking if anyone has PCI video cards in stock, because they always, without fail, say "you mean PCI Express, right?" and I'm like "no, PCI", and then they just sorta laugh at me.
I figure I'm going to save for a while and build a new machine once Black Mesa is finished and then use this one as a Linux Box.
There are a shitload of games I can run on Steam, though, and lucky for me, most of them are cheap.
You are brave men. My pentium M/ 512Mb laptop can only run firefox effectively with like 3 tabs max, and next to no extensions before becoming painfully slow

Oh, if you want to use jumplists, you'll have to pin it somewhere.

No, jumplists are on the process bar. He's saying that you don't need to touch the system tray.

Ive never looked into it, so I've got no idea if it would be worth it.
Hmm.
Is the jumplist functionality enough to make up for the space having an extra icon on my task bar will use?
I KISS YOU!

Aw Fuck this
CoH keeps updating. I think the game forgets it's been updated already. Stupid fucking game.

I'm not going to have any money come November/December for all those games. ><

Stalker is one of those games that will not run on my machine, but for $5 it's worth picking it up just to have whenever I eventually upgrade.

How old is your machine?
I found: http://stalker.filefront.com/file/No_Headbobbing_Mini_Mod;77365#Download
but when I extract it to the STALKER folder it does nothing. I go into the game and nothing. If I put it in the MOD folder; nothing.
How do you install mods with the steam version?
EDIT: NM, found instructions here; http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=772351

My rig is down for the count,so I am currently up and running on a Celeron 2.6GHz with 256MB of RAM and integrated video.
I'm picking up more RAM and a new video card this weekend, but still.
How do you even run a web browser to post?

F that. Taskbar 4 LYFE
It's not nice.
Nope, sadly.
Is Steam activation-ability that big of a deal-breaker?
