And... its gone. Does Amazon ever list what the quantity of a deal was? I'm curious whether they had a ridiculously low amount or if people just bought them that fast.
There's no way to lose your account accepting a gift. You just click "OK" and then you have the game. You don't put your password or email in anywhere.
Never accept a gift from an unknown user. Any accounts tied to a redeemed gift from a fraudulent source will be permanently disabled.
Huh, never knew that. So I'm guessing if someone hacked your friend's account and was using a fake CC to send gifts, then that might land you in trouble.

you know when the sale starts, and it was pretty obvious what the game would be. You can see how many % is left on the deal at least. I got in at 93% just now.
Dead Space is an incredibly well made game. PC version is excellent, and whilst I'm not entirely sure about the save system, it is one of the most forward thinking survival horror game designs I've ever played.
It controls and plays as well (in fact better) as an action game like RE4, but it still makes you feel like a normal human instead of Rambo. It looks fantastic (even on a low end system), and it has a few great tricks up its sleeve (the zero-g stuff, that incredible HUDless interface, and the weapon upgrade system all add a lot to the game).
I highly recommend it, I'd get it on Steam if I didn't already get it for free from that EA glitch.
Edit: On gifting -
I sent a gift to a spare email address of mine, then just copied the link, and sent it to my Santee in a pm. Worked fine.
How exactly does this work? Wouldn't the link be stuck within your inbox? Or does the link then send you to an outside source such as the Steam website?

I just started playing Dead Space a few days ago (got it from Goozex) and I'm enjoying it. I'm on the 3rd chapter in Hard mode. It feels a lot like I would imagine a new Doom game would feel with a pinch of Resident Evil thrown in for good measure.
So am I right in thinking this is the correct place to discuss Hammer, map making etc? It does mention it in the OP but I've not seen much conversation on the topic...
So if I ever finish my current Left 4 Dead map, this would be the place to be all 'uhh hey guys, look what i made? Hurr hurr'.

Left 4 Dead thread would probably be better.
Last guy who posted his map in there met Gabe Newell.

You make a lot of sense.
I doubt I'll ever do anything as well as LaCabra (i think that's his username?). It's all in the name of fun and learning really.
Thanks

For those eyeing up Majesty 2, I figured I'd throw in my two cents about the game.
It starts off great, but after a few missions I got pretty sick of it. All the missions are essentially the same, and while the lack of control of your heroes is a pretty neat game concept, it gets pretty frustrating sometimes. The costs required to get your lazy heroes to do -anything- is way too high, and most of the time they'll completely ignore their surroundings, allowing your town to get demolished if you don't have 300 heroes aimlessly shambling around.
For $10 though it's perhaps worth it. Just don't go into it expecting anything hugely great. I stopped about 3/4 of the way through the game out of boredom and frustration.
My games list doubled thanks to Lucas arts, holding back a little on Dead space but after I get my hard drive and some new bike tires and set up some loan payments, then I will go in on it tonight.
Added KotOR to the pile. Once games get down to the sub-$5 mark it's hard to not buy them even if I'm not super interested. Everyone seems to have loved it though so I shall check it out despite my total disinterest in Star Wars.
Still too put off by my rapidly developed boredom with L4D to buy L4D2.
edit.. btw wow at kotor being ~3 gigs for an old ass game.
Which unfortunately only applies to in-store copies, so while it's a nice deal, I have next to no confidence I'll actually be able to find a physical copy of a PC game without "Warcraft" or "Modern Warfare" in the titles in any Gamestop store.
Uh, no. The 29.99 L4D2 works on the US Gamestop site, no in-store required.
I didn't care that much about that with Osmos, but then I wanted to get that a lot more.
Steps to justifying stupid impulse purchases:
1) Yeah, but it'd be more like £1.30+ with the scummy paypal/credit card conversion rates.
2) And don't forget VAT - that's £1.50 already.
3) And they're putting it up in the new year, so we're talking closer to £1.53.
4) You've probably dropped/thrown away way more than 47 pennies in the last few years, so they = nothing.
5) Wooo, we're getting it at the same price as the US!
Really irks me when they have "80% off!" on the banner and then "66% off" on the actual page, though. I'm getting it purely because I like games where you roll around destroying stuff, and I owned a cheap knockoff of a madball once - Blurp Balls. They vomited character-appropriate bungs. I had Tyrannosaurus Retch.
Dead Space is the only 3rd person action/horror game to out Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil 4.
I think I'd like to go through the pc version... does anyone know if it has gfwl achievements?
nope, but you won't miss them :P
also who is saying bad things about dead space
let me dismember them
but really, the game's such a cohesive, well-put-together experience. nothing is out of place or feels tonally wrong. it's not a game where you'll want to be playing it all the time, but it IS a game with superb replay value if you're not silly about such things (ahh it doesn't have multiplayer rent onlyyy). 15 dollars is a superb deal to add it to your library.
i paid 50 last year for the PC version at release, despite winning a free copy from EA. i wanted to give them my money. my trust was well placed.

OK, Canada is a terrible country if you want to enjoy Steam.
In the UK, I got given a debit card that I could link to Paypal and everything was fine. I was buying shit left and right.
Now that I'm in Vancouver, I can't use my UK Paypal account to buy games over here for my Steam account. So I opened a new Paypal account, and tied my bank account to it. But it turns out that Steam requires instant payment, and without a debit or credit card (Which I can't get), I can't buy games off of Steam.
Long story short: Someone gift me KOTOR after I paypal you the money, please.
SUPER MEGA EDIT: LewieP just gifted this to me. Thanks, man!

Yea I already own the game as well, and it would probably be a good idea to tell EA that Visceral makes some pretty good fucking games and not to close the studio down.
So I bought the THQ pack. I couldn't pass up so many games I wanted for such a awesome price.
I'm like a kid at Christmas. How long is this steam sale is this the end of it? If so I am quite sad I missed the beginning but at last I caught Dragon Age on sale.
Added KotOR to the pile. Once games get down to the sub-$5 mark it's hard to not buy them.
This is how I see it, period. I'm pretty sure my mint condition disks are sitting on a bookshelf at home, and I fully intend to get KoTOR when I get home just so I can throw them out. Hell, I've got Bioshock sitting there beside it, and if it hits $5 again like it did during the last christmas sale, I'll probably do the same thing.
It's a low enough pricepoint that I'll take spending $3-5 over having to worry about having a disk in the drive or finding said disks between moves or having them risk being damaged or whatever.
While the big deals are often absurdly good, like $400 worth of games for $50-100, it's the sub $10 deals that are most likely to get my attention unless it's a game that I really want. Even things I'm not sure I really want, at $3 I'll snag it just on the off chance I do want it one day, or want it more conveniently in the case of already owning it.

I'm guessing this is one of those Black Friday things or something? In the UK it's listing at £24.99.
How would you know though?

Think of it this way: Dead Space is a great deal, it won't likely be available for that cheap for a while. The others are all only cheap too.
So none of it really counts.
Can't wait to see the rest of the weeks offers.

This sale is making fools of me and all my friends and gifts are the greatest.

Madballz is £1.21 in the US and £2 in the UK.

about a minute if the person is on your friends list.
Bought a new monitor and thought, 'Well might as well check and see what steam has up'
I has no more monies.
