I was thinking of buying KOTOR last week and I am so glad I held off. Definitely picking that up.
I'm trying so hard not to rebuy Dead Space, I have it on 360 already but I think I may enjoy it more on PC. How are the PC controls? I think playing it in the dark and close to my monitor and with my awesome headphones would give me nightmares, but the best kind of nightmares.

Basically the PC version is better in every way unless you don't have a widescreen monitor, in which it's worse because it's not widescreen but otherwise better. Also you need to turn off Vsync.

Man, you're supposed to tell me it's terrible so I don't spend more money.
Also I don't have a widescreen monitor, but I plan on getting one in the near futue.
So I bought the THQ pack. I couldn't pass up so many games I wanted for such a awesome price.
I'm like a kid at Christmas. How long is this steam sale is this the end of it? If so I am quite sad I missed the beginning but at last I caught Dragon Age on sale.
It's the second day of five - and if you caught Dragon Age you've seen what the first had to offer too. And don't count on there being much breathing space before the Christmas one!
Which game from the THQ pack have I actually gotten around to playing yet? Red Faction. The original one. Still suprisingly fun, and nifty to see the Saints Row references!

Any two dudes wanna get together for a four pack? I've got myself and another person interested, but both of us are in Canada and Steam won't accept debit transactions

They reference each other in fact, well Saint's Row 2 does. I don't know about Saint's Row 1.

It does through Paypal. I connected my bank account to my Paypal and use that for everything on Steam instead of a credit card.

Are you sure? I just went to pay and everything was greyed out in Paypal except using my credit card, which I can't do at the moment for other reasons.
You sure it's not transferring money from your CC to paypal?

Which unfortunately only applies to in-store copies, so while it's a nice deal, I have next to no confidence I'll actually be able to find a physical copy of a PC game without "Warcraft" or "Modern Warfare" in the titles in any Gamestop store.
Uh, no. The 29.99 L4D2 works on the US Gamestop site, no in-store required.
Still, I try and avoid buying physical copies of PC games unless I absolutely have to.
I'd sooner wait until the Steam version of L4D2 goes 50% off than have to wait for Gamestop to ship me a physical copy.
Since Gamestop has their own digital download service, I am surprised that they weren't offering a download option for L4D2, but they may be just looking to clear out physical stock.

I just tried to buy something through Steam with Paypal, and it doesn't work for me either. I need a credit or debit card linked to my account before I can make instant purchases.

I played it on an older, non-widescreen CRT and the game played just fine. Makes you a little more claustrophobic, maybe, but it's not unplayable

Are you in Canada? And if so, can you recommend a specific type of Visa gift card that you know works on Steam? I don't want to go out and get one only to find out that it doesn't work because of lack of address information etc.

Yeah, the payments show up in my bank account's transaction history. I don't recall how I initially linked my bank account to my paypal, it's been a while, but when I make a payment on Steam I choose to use that account rather than a credit card and it works fine. It does have the CC as a backup payment method if I don't have the funds in my bank, but I've never had anything charged to the CC.

Answer my PM. I got the 4 pack today on sale, so you're looking at about $30 if you want in on one of these copies.

I had terrible screen tearing, so my options were either have Vsync and ultra-slow controls or screen tearing and decent controls. Found something called D3DOverider which was a HUGE help. Gives the game Vsync without screwing up the mouse controls.
Only has shit resolution options (1280x1024 is max) and managed to freeze on me a few minutes into the game. (Brand new system, fresh and clean, i5, 5850, 4gigs, Win7 64.)
I suppose there are reasons to not play old games on new hardware.

Bolded for importance. If you ONLY have a bank account linked to your Paypal account, you can't make instant payments. If you have a credit or debit card linked as well, though, it'll happily use your bank account.

Never heard of this. What does it do? Can I get a link?
Although what annoyed me most about Dead Space wasn't the lack of Vsync, it was the lack of Anti-Aliasing. Couldn't even force it from the Nvidia control panel.

i don't think even D3DOverrider can force it. it's because of the deferred rendering, i think.
although if it can, then i might try it for borderlands.

Yeah it seems KotOR is just jacked for a lot of people looking at the forums. I edited the ini file for it and on exit it spazzed out and tried to fuck up my refresh rate I guess because my monitor displayed a message about it and I had to hard reboot.
This is the part where I just shrug and move on because I've already passed $2.50 worth of hassle.
Hey, is Cities XL any good? I loved the shit out of SimCity 4, and was looking for something sort of like that (SCSocieties was awful), and I remember the SC4 crowd getting excited when Cities XL was announced. Did it turn out good?

I grew up in that age too. Troubleshooting has always been a part of a PC gaming. Back then you had to figure things out on your own and didn't have Google to turn to. It blows my mind that that someone could be handed a solution and not even bother thinking it's too much effort. I guess consoles have spoiled the younger generations who think things should just work right out of the box. :?

Waste of paper & plastic. I'd pay $29.99 for Gamestop (or Valve) to email me a CD key and then let me download the game.
Besides, I'm unemployed right now, so any excuse I can use to not buy games is helpful. :P
I need two people who want in now, so send me a PM if you're interested. You can use paypal or email transfer or whatever you like.
