Getting a girl is not the be all end all Napp, fuck I was single (apart from a few 3-4 date relationships) right up until I was 27.
Yeah- I'm right in that same boat (well, 20ish but still). I know I've been talking about it a lot but its not really even in my top 10 of things to do right now. Just something prevalent that keeps popping up in weird little bursts that don't go away until I talk it out.
Hopefully it doesn't bother you guys too much
(its kinda why i spoilered that last one. I'm even tired of writing about it- but its the best way for me to clear my head)

Believe me, it's better than the alternative: Accepting everyone or chasing after dates you know are never going to work out. Ten times the soul-crush!
Also, hurrah I just finished my homework and it's 3:00. But Radar has like, an hour and a half left.

Now I'm being put on the spot... I don't have anything to say
Tell you what.
If you ever show up at my house, I'll break out the NES. I'll pop in Rampart. After playing for an hour if you manage to beat me ten consecutive times it might bother a little but then we'll go have pizza and it'll all be cool. It will be the most bothersome event between the two of us, for all time.
That's what buddies are for, right?
p.s. I had had a crush on girl once, it was for like three years before I told her and then I found out she was a lesbian, so don't stress it
Sweet mother of gourd, I just finished the first skills test in the EA class - the graphic design one. There is a reason it is 8 in the morning and I am awake.
What an absolutely insane amount of work this was! Hopefully the next one won't be so time-consuming...I have spent nearly all of my free time outside of classes working for this one course. Like, I've been giving myself an hour or two a day of relaxing-me-time (excluding things like quick eatin' times, transportation, etc). This is mostly spent sitting on the couch with the cat on my lap, trying not to fall asleep. Or talking with my roommate. Every. Other. Hour. Is spent working and not getting enough sleep.
Next up: Character Concepts, and NDA's! Fuck my life!
Don't get me wrong - this is exciting, and fun, and I like it........but the day needs another 5+ hours in it for me to feel comfortable with the level of work I want to be producing in this class and my ZBrush class (which I have yet to do much of ANY work in, as a result of the life-consuming amounts of work for this EA one).
Everybody in this class is habitually staying up until 3-4am every night. Sleeeeep destrooooying

i find it amazing that they put you through all this grueling work
after working on ea games, i can tell you they cut corners and just rip off their past games more than any other company
and we used to get design mockups from the main company of what they thought interfaces should look like, their designers seem to be the bottom of the barrel
so... yeah, i mean, it's good that they're giving you a good course, but jesus, they should apply this to their own games
the other thing is, ea outsources almost everything
especially the sports section. ea itself the company is made up of a couple absolutely brainless art directors and a whole whack of execs
sorry for raggin' on the company, but god, after seeing a glimpse of their inner workings, and getting work from their "top artists" to base my work on for a year and a half... i just have a real bitter taste in my mouth about ea.
Of course, I worked with EA Sports. The US EA does other stuff, so eh?
Yay for turning down the one girl who's obviously interested in me!
Hell, if you're only 20-ish, you should call her back up and be all "my bad." Unless there's something that makes you terribly uninterested in (grossed out by) her, than you need to get a few girlfriends under your belt so you can learn from the inevitable mistakes you'll make with them, and when you get older and it matters you'll be all the better significant other because of it.
continuing the relationship bit. spoilers for less annoyance
@Charis: Yep, that's why I turned her down; She's a nice person but there's no way it'd work out for very long.
@Manon: I guess, but I don't want to go out with a girl just because I can- I'd hate have to break up with a girl with the line "well, i didn't think it would last this long anyway...- I was pretty sure you'd be my training wheels of the girlfriend world" (i know that isn't really what you meant, but its kinda how I'd feel if I were doing it)
\...- I was pretty sure you'd be my training wheels of the girlfriend world"
It's better than saying, "Baby. It's just not working out between us. Really, you're like the Big Wheels of the girlfriend world... oversized, easy, and absurdly fun to ride- but quite frankly it's embarrassing to be seen with you. "

Well, it is going to depend on whether or not I get this job. I'm pretty sure I've got it, but I haven't got the final word yet, so I don't want to get my plans too squared away on leaving yet. Anyway, the job is in Homer, Alaska. It's a lot like where I am now, but you can drive to it and away from it, and it's about 10X as populous. I called the newspaper there about two weeks ago and I've been doing the back and forth with them ever since. Talked to the editor, she said she was very interested in seeing my application package (Resume, clips, photos etc). Then I talked to both of their current reporters, then talked to the editor again. This week she asked if I could write up an autobiography and critique three newspapers that she had sent me on Tuesday prior to this morning. I did all that and now I'm waiting on the phone call which should come this afternoon.
It's kind of win-win-lose, I guess. If I don't get the job I have a stable thing going here and a pretty great lady to spend time with, but I'm stuck in a place that I ultimately don't want to be and the job-hunting fun will have to continue. If I do get the job I'll be in a new place with new people doing new things, I'll feel like I've moved up professionally, but I'll be a substantial distance away from said awesome lady.

She's not. She just finished up her Masters in Social Work and this is her first job in that field, and she has just started this week. On the one hand she could definitely get work elsewhere, but on the other, this is really early on and though we've talked about it I think we both want to see where it goes over the next month before making a plan. I know I'm going if I get the job. If she had gotten here a year ago and we'd been together for longer I'd probably consider sticking around until she was ready to go, but I'm not that naive or idealistic enough to think that passing up a job offer (if I get it) for a place I want to go and a career step up is worth sacrificing over what is still a short term relationship.

You're supposed to make him feel better, Stang. not worse.
But for god's sake bring your papers!
I just found a job opening for a valve design engineer.
valves like in your faucet, not like what beav works for.
But my heart stopped for like a minute.

Baby don't hurt me:whistle:
@manon: hahaha, holy shit. My Dr. Pepper nearly ended up all over my monitor after I read that.
Why do people keep saying that? Why won't anyone tell me wut love is? And why my heart feels so so cold and empty...

I'm pretty sure I scared away a girl obviously interested in me when she visited me in the hospital.
Tubes all everywhere.
Hopped up on pain meds.
About to throw up.
Hadn't showered in days.
etc.
I was hot, let me tell you.
Yeah you can't propose until like the third time she comes to visit you.
Up here in Alaska and on my particularly small island, this is not a common occurrence!
The downside being that I will probably be moving in a month.
