On a pub, I finally got a level 3 overlooking defense's spawn on gravelpit. It was surprisingly easy, and got 5 kills without me babysitting it. Also, somehow, despite this, the rest of my team couldn't take B while this was going on. I guess that's pubs for you.

After the video that was posted a week or two ago, I went on a pub that was running Badwater and got a sentry up above the second CP, after offense unlocked that spawn room. It got a half dozen kills before the offense could even figure out where the fire was coming from.
Then there was that confusion period where people panic trying to figure out what to do, and then I got backstabbed. 12 easy kills before I was stopped, and they never did recover from it because the rest of my team took the opportunity to push forward.

The best was when you could go UNDER gravelpit C and make sentries pointing at spawn.
That shit was the best.
Now I want to play gravelpit when I get home and setup a lvl 3 outside of spawn.
It almost always seems to work too, even on the PA servers.
Edit: Although on the PA servers, the spawn camping gun usually only gets one or two people before I have to actually try helping cap the next point.
Next time you play let's do this.
It just seems gpit is rarely played in PA.
I'll definitely rush C with you at beginning of round and setup a lvl 3 with you in like 5 seconds.
We can most certainly keep up the nest for a good 3 minutes before anyone destroys it.
Trick is, you need a sentry looking AT the spawn at C and another one flush with the wall where the spawn is, looking AWAY from spawn. This creates a barrage of bullets/rockets and if they try to peak their heads out to kill the one flush with the wall, the one looking at spawn will get them.
All we need to do is keep up teleporters on the staircase next to spawn and protect the sentry pointing at spawn and we have the map.
The flaregun should do damage proportional to flight time.
I very much support this - it gives the pyro a neat role in suppressing snipers and rocket sniping soldiers, and really amps up the harassment role of the class.
If a Heavy plans to self-heal he absolutely must do it while in a corner facing outward. Anything less is instant death from the Spy that's been following him the entire time.
Kupi on
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
The best is being at half health and finding a heavy gorging himself
now it's a race against time to steal his sandwich
It's too bad the sandvich taunt isn't just the heavy saying "OM NOM NOM" while pulling out his fists.
That way you could fake out some scoot by pulling out sandvich, running around the corner, and playing nobody expects the KGB when they run over with their bat out

Lets talk some more about offensive engineering. It owns, there is nothing as fun as sneaking past the enemy lines and building a base right behind their spawn so your team can swiftly and mercilessly slaughter them (spawncamp if you are mean) them.

Let's not, because it just means I will spend more time wishing valve would put the PDQ in.

Man, you guys know how I got that pyro Pilot Light achievement a few days ago as a sniper? I just broke another one. I got Pyrotechnics (kill 3 people as a pyro while uber'd) without the uber.
It was the Kritz you get from capping a flag.
Though this seems like it'd be common so you probably all knew already.

I can't wait for you to get pyromancer through fire arrows.

There's a difference between setting up shop outside of spawn and having dedicated demos sticky trapping every person that comes out of spawn.

Fixed. heh.

Also, woefully false.
hahaha so damn true.

The PDQ will make it so much more fun.
Sure you lose out on the level 3, but you can get a new gun up in between spawn waves and cause some real havoc.

hard to get explosives up there without charging up
The whole point is to keep people in spawn, or at least taking damage.

I'll test this out next time on gpit.
It's literally 80% of the discussion in here. Literally. It's all we talk about.
The other 20% is goomba, and most of that 20% leads INTO discussing pyro.
How about dem hats

We ran a "test" on Zissou last night.. a heavy eating sandvich cannot be killed by a level 1 sentry.

just standing in front of a level one and eating sandvich over and over
the engineer and I just kept laughing until a pyro came in and ruined our fun
