It sounds like everywhere in the UK is terrible

Most of it is great, merely punctuated by hotspots of terrible. Like islands in a great ocean.

Are you really doing a "go to europe to learn how to cook" thing?
Is this what you do at college? I'm really confused.

Yeah, I'm going to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. It's not JUST that I want to learn how to cook - if that was all, I would enroll in a school here. I also want to travel, so I'm doing both at the same time.

and naw this isn't part of college. this is extra-collegiate or something

gonna be from Jan 1st to 24th, it's about $4k for three weeks of dorming, the class, airfare, and other stuff. Pretty good deal.

    Exactly what I thought.

The roads were terrible. The streets were narrow. Absolutely horrible weather. No shops except for a morrisons and nothing in the surrounding area. There are hints that it was once a popular place, with the odd seaside attraction but jesus, what a horrible place.

I found out last night that American government between 1907 and 1970 forcibly castrated over 70,000 Americans because the courts considered them "weak of mind".

The germans when they started to enact all of that stuff based it off the American model.

To be fair, considering the size of America at the time and the time period it was over we are talking less than 0.001% of the population per year were castrated.

It was a very interesting documentary, it was about Darwin's theory of evolution and how it was twisted around to fit people's agendas.

the great oliver wendal holmes wrote the ruling decision on the supreme court case that upheld the laws concerning forced sterilization too

I found the title of it it was called "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" and I think you can watch it here if SBS doesn't have silly region blocking stuff (they usually don't)

York is quite nice - lovely old buildings to soak in, and rather affluent I think.

London is pretty intimidating I think, plus the people seem kinda harsh, in my city shop keepers are nice and friendly, London is all business and sales.
