The Engineer's been a support class in games for forever, and they first showed up in a Halo context in Fall of Reach. I think you're stretching a little to try and tie it to a direct reference.

Actually date back to the first game (they were designed and everything) just cut at the last minute.
Hey, Willeth, for a guy who was worried about achievement spoilers, you're kind of giving away everything Cantido was gracious enough to keep behind the curtain.

Eh, you're right, but I do think it's a spoiler of the kind that only people on a blackout would care about being spoiled, and if you care that much you've played the game to death already. At this point talking about a character that exists I'm not concerned about, but I appreciate your point.

Okay. I have 2 questions. I will throw both in spoilers, and if you haven't beaten the game you probably don't want to look at them. If you want to spoiler your answer in a post that's cool, but I won't cry about it if somebody decides to just PM me or something if y'all don't want to spoiler up the thread. Thanks, guys.
1.) Is there an official explanation for why we haven't seen engineers in the campaigns of any other games? They seem like too powerful of a unit for the Covenant to not use them at every opportunity.
2) What was up with the guy that was helping me get to sublevel 9 in Data Hive? It seemed like the Superintendant killed him on purpose with all his "Crime doesn't pay" talk.
1) No reason I know of.
2) Collect all the audiologs or give the go ahead to spoil it for you.
Ah - I only have 6 logs so I'll go ahead and be content to have the story unravel for me - I thought I was just missing some big piece of Halo lore or something (never played 1 or 2 campaign yet).
Engineers were supposed to be in Halo:CE, but were cut out at the last minute (time constraints maybe). They were cut out so late that there are still some game files in Halo CE that have to do with engineers. The engineers are in most of the Halo books, so they have been around for a while.
Can anyone explain why the Enginneers where so aggressive? I get that the Brutes put proximity mines on them for when they try to 'fix' human crap, but why was the Enginneer in Buck's first level acting like that?

Also, Virgil had an interesting disign.
It wasn't going to hurt him, he probably had something on him that it wanted to repair/see how it worked.

It seemed to be making a really creepy noise and flapping whatever the hell it had on in a threatening way. My first thought when I saw that was "Crap, they just make Enginneers another evil race."
Also, Enginneer squadmates in all new Halo games. Was there any references in the books to how the Elites treated enginneers?

I'm not sure why it was up in Buck's face like that, but it was trying to show him Dare's helmet. When Romeo shot it, the explosion launched Dare's helmet up into the window where Rookie found it.
One more for Endure, anyone willing to help us out?

They were pretty well regarded with the attitude of "Eh, let em' do what they do."
So IWHBYD is pretty funny if you stare at one of your ODST squadmates for a while. My favorite is if you stare at Buck too long, "I know we're not supposed to ask in the military, but in your case I certainly don't need to"
I wonder what happens if you stare at Dare for too long in Data Hive
As much as I love Nathan Fillion; I often feel like he's got food in his mouth for half the lines he delivers.
It's really odd. Sometime he just speaks and sometimes he has this "I have to finish this hamburger and deliver lines. What should I do?" sound to his voice.

Reference I'm missing?
Although
But give me a break, I only read ONE of the novels.

Now I really wanna hear that line. I feel like it'd be even better in the dulcet tones of The Fillion.

But then again, maybe I was distracted by the horrible actor for Miranda in Halo 2.
"Yeah. It's a Halo, or something. When can I go home?"
So how many people did I get?
But in a good way.
i'd love to play some grifball, but I wont be on for at least an hour. Late night shenanigans again?
Figures a Hayabusa was fall for it.
