Well Jim, what is your solution for the homeless problem? let them wander the streets where they might lash out and possibly maim or kill someone?
And for the child molesters, same reason I don't really care about cop killers and other dregs being shit kicked. They made choices that landed them where they are. Maybe they didn't have the best possible aspects of life, but it's pretty hard to not molest a child. Should they be killed? no, i believe rehabilitation can work if the person wants to change. And maybe having 20 large men beat you for a while is the motivation they needed.

Well, he's been offered help, only thing we can do is force him, which we can not legally do, so we let him walk around the streets a danger to himself and others.
yes but that person didn't chose their mental illness
what i find pretty fucked up is the fact that you don't feel sorry for them, when you clearly understand they are not in complete control of their faculties
Look the point is what do you do?
He doesn't want mental help he wants 15 bucks so be can get drunk and shit his pants in front of you. In all seriousness there is no point feeling sorry for him because there is absolutely nothing you can do and all you will do is feel lousy, when he doesn't even care.
Feel sorry for the dudes down on their luck and trying to make their way back up to semi-normal life, feel sorry for those dudes and help them instead, because they actually want it.
I am available at anytime of the day for a fistfight or any type of sword or crossbow duel. I just purchased an automatic pistol crossbow. It's a mix between a gun and a crossbow, it's like a pistol but it fires arrows. I killed a goat with a shot in the stomach at point-blank range by alluring it with grass; the beast died three hours later. I will do the same with you.
this reminds me of the Riddick guy
Vin Diesel? What?
EVERY MORNING I WAKE UP AND OPEN PALM SLAM A VHS INTO THE SLOT. ITS CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK AND RIGHT THEN AND THERE I START DOING THE MOVES ALONGSIDE WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER, RIDDICK. I DO EVERY MOVE AND I DO EVERY MOVE HARD. MAKIN WHOOSHING SOUNDS WHEN I SLAM DOWN SOME NECRO BASTARDS OR EVEN WHEN I MESS UP TECHNIQUE. NOT MANY CAN SAY THEY ESCAPED THE GALAXY’S MOST DANGEROUS PRISON. I CAN. I SAY IT AND I SAY IT OUTLOUD EVERYDAY TO PEOPLE IN MY COLLEGE CLASS AND ALL THEY DO IS PROVE PEOPLE IN COLLEGE CLASS CAN STILL BE IMMATURE JERKS. AND IVE LEARNED ALL THE LINES AND IVE LEARNED HOW TO MAKE MYSELF AND MY APARTMENT LESS LONELY BY SHOUTING EM ALL. 2 HOURS INCLUDING WIND DOWN EVERY MORNING. THEN I LIFT”

seriously just the funniest set of words ever put to paper
the part about shaving their heads, and the cat, holy loly
listen i don't see how you couldn't feel bad for homeless folk
the fact that most them i am worried about getting attacked by, it becomes easier with time.
I'm not saying they are allt he scum of the earth or anything. but the ones scrounging money to feed their crack habit or to buy mouth wash to drink or some other thing, these are the ones i have more or less no pity for.

It’s kindof sad really. Carter thinks of himself as a Christian, a compassionate man, a person always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow man. He continually reminds us that he helps Habitat for Humanity.
That’s why I laugh at the buffoon. He’s clueless. It’s not ‘Christian’ behavior to deny a man treatment for cancer.

At first I read that comment and thought he was in favor of nhc

yeah, but that isn't their fault, and it isn't that hard to help them, either

People seem to forget that people with mental illnesses are not always in control of themselves. And that mental illness isn't just something you can will out of existence, or some shit.

It is when they flat out refuse to get help. If they try to get help, great! I would love to help them! The ones that don't though, what can you do? haul them all in and force it on them? You all call me horrible for not caring about people that seem to not care about themselves, so what's your grand idea to help the people who will not help themselves?

For people demonstratively mentally ill, involuntary commitment.

this always really irks me
the purpose of incarceration is firstly for public safety, and secondly for rehabilitation
this notion of retribution is not helping anything, at all, nor is a tough on crime policy which turns a blind eye to horrible violence in prisons among other failures of american prisons

not arguing that they don't want the help
i'm suggesting that they shouldn't be excluded from our sympathies and efforts to help them get better because they don't like being told they're crazy and should come talk to a psychiatrist

Which leads up to the two very important questions!
What should we do besides sitting around and feeling sorry for them?
Exactly what does feeling sorry for them accomplish?

you are aware that it then makes it impossible to help them and then they become a danger to society, yeah?
CorpseRT, then you get people protesting that because it violates their civil rights or something.
i don't see how you aren't getting this
i don't know, every homeless person's situation is regrettable
probably some housing would be a good start but i honestly have no idea
i don't think we should give up

Look, if you just group them into the convenient unhuman category that we don't care about, it all works out nicely.
